If you thought Teslas’ were already pretty fast just wait until you see the world’s first Tesla RACE car! With electric car racing on the rise, it only makes sense that Tesla decided to get in on the action. Built for the Electric GT racing series, this gutted P100D does 0-60 in just 2.1 seconds!
Now the regular model P100D can already do 0-60 in 2.4 seconds but with a massive weight reduction of 1, 100 lbs. for the race version, it’s no wonder this thing is notably faster. Electric GT’s first season is planned to start in September of this year, with twenty drivers divided across 10 teams to compete in 7 races. The race distance is only 37 miles, which indicates electric cars still aren’t where they need to be when it comes to range but that’s expected to improve in the future.

I come here to see racecars do racecar things. Not to watch some asshole talk about how fast the car is
I dont understand whats so special about a race car that does 0 to 60 in 2.1 seconds? Rally cross cars from the late 90s did 0 to 60 in 1.9 seconds and thats with small turbocharged petrol engines.
Next model race car will be a prius lul
need a video to see it, not to hear it from you sorry
Rip gas cars we had a good run
Keep gas for racing and electric for daily driving.
When ludicrous mode isn't enough…..get ready for……TESLA MODEL S GRAND TURISMO
There's plenty of room for both, for now, but I'd bet that in 50 years….. And, I just read the other day that Chevy is looking to go 100% electric before too long. Then I thought about an electric Corvette – and cried…..
2.1 SECONDS IS NOT FAST ITS QUICK IM SO TRIGGERED LEARN THE DIFFERENCE
I hope not. The electric phenomenon is fascinating to me, but I can't think of anything worse than a quiet race. Maybe they could give electric cars an artificial sound, like a Tie Fighter or perhaps the Jetson Mobile.
love it!!!
hey do you know how in the amusement park the bumping electric cars have cables running to the roof that has electrified net for power? do that for electric race circuit to lose battery weight and more power? great idea ;))
0-60 in 2.1sec including 1foot rollout or from dead stop?
sorry guys, that's how evolution works, absolutely, electric is soon to take over. the governments are pushing auto manufacturers hard, even F1 keeps reducing sizes of their engines and turning to more and more electric. Formula E, is improving fast.
Electric is appealing, super fast and the range and charging time keeps improving.
NB: you don't mention that there will be TWO races at each venue – one during the day, the other at "dusk". Keep an eye on Wiki for latest details.

0-62 in 2.1 sec not 0-60. Is it that hard to read???
As the electrics prove to be faster, more durable and more efficient than the current rules allow petrol cars to be, either electrics will start getting regulated down, or they will start removing restrictions from petrol cars. Remember when turbine indy car nearly turned the race upside down, until it busted a gear box in the second to last lap…And then there's autodrive
We will always have petrol fuel racing as nostalgia just like we still have horse racing and steam engines.
Taking "over" however.. will actually require they do so. By that I mean they will have to be faster than their piston powered cousins. Once that happens.. racing is racing.
I don't think it will "take over" so much, I believe it will be just a new thing, like another class of racing. You know? I don't think gas powered racing will go away, thousands of people are far into it already.
1,100 lbs lost, wow!
