I think if it has mods to put out 700+ to the crank then it can push that 6th gear to 200mph
The ZL1 6th gear is tall (0.5) so won't allow the motor to get into it's high HP band to push the car quicker. Designed for fuel economy not top speed. It feels a bit weird though.
Yes it will go over 173 is 6th gear was lower. RPM from 5th to 6th drops to 4.5k rpm which is too low and the motor is now below its hp power band. If it dropped to 5.5k it would keep closing past 185 prob to 190. The 1LE has a lower 6th but has much more aero drag so it's top speed is different.

It was still climbing fast, which means that it is not near top speed.
It’s all in the gearing, one guy already tested it and said it will not pull 6th gear, too tall of a gear. Looks like A10 is the way to go if you want to hit 180+.
Motor Trend tested a 2013 Mustang GT500 and hit 196mph.
by the way….a new Type R can top 170mph with only 310hp in UK. i assumed a 650hp supercharged car would at least top at 190mph in a beat.
Challenger SRT 392 with 485hp can top 182mph…..so why is a 650hp car so slow?
