My service light won't blink or turn off
What about the pontiac where you have to remove the fuse panel on the drivers door, hit reset button 3 times I think
my GMC is too old to have an oil change timer — but now I know how if I get a newer one
how do you do this on mopar computers, in particular the jeep 4.0 series
My Saturn, which is technically a GM has the light reset under the hood in the fuse box. You press it to reset the light. Thought that was a tad odd haha
Why did he (Imogden1) use block letters? Looks like he was filling a form!
i will add that on camaros (i know for sure the 02, and i assume its the same for 93-02), you hold down the trim meter reset button
@EricTheCarGuy glad to share my knowledge.
@kenman1717 Thank you VERY much for your input I really appreciate it.
@kenman1717 a few typos, wish youtube had an edit button.
this method works for like 85% of gm cars/trucks/vans from 99 up. i work at a chev dealer, do this all the time. but like eric says check the owners manual. older impalas up to 06, through the radio. venture vans up to 05 through the trip meter button. cobalt, buttons on steering wheel.alot of the 90s model cars had them, ome had a reset button, some you had to stick a pen through a hole in the glove box, some under the hood, it was crazie, most is pretty standard not.
@lmogden1 Keep me updated then, thanks for the comments.
I ENDED UP GOING BACK TO THE FIAT DEALER THEY RESET IT MY WIFE TOOK THE CAR IN THEY TOOK IT IN THE WORKSHOP TO RESET IT SO STILL NONE THE WISER I DONT THINK IT IS NECESSARY TO TAKE INTO A WORKSHOP IF I FIND OUT ANYTHING DIFFERENT I WILL CONTACT YOU LOTS OF THESE DEALERS TRY AND SURROUND THEMSELVES WITH A CLOAK OF MYSTERY GUYS LIKE YOU TELL IT AS IT IS AND PUT VIDEOS UP TO BACK UP YOUR STORIES THANKS ANYWAY KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK REGARDS LAWRENCE
@lmogden1 Sorry I couldn't help more, have you checked the owners manual?
THANKS FOR GETTING BACK TO ME STILL NOT FOUND A WAY OF DOING IT AND NO OTHER FIAT DETAILS TO COMPARE WITH KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK WITH YOUR VIDEOS
@lmogden1 I honestly don't know, I would check the owners manual.
does this work on a fiat 500 i have a light for oil change this i have done and it wont reset
@chevymechman91 It does not work on ALL GM's, check your owners manual for the procedure on your vehicle.
@13FravelJ This video is on a chevy truck really, even though it's a van it's still considered a truck. If it's of the same vintage it should work but some other models use different methods.
can this work on CHevy Trucks too?
@MrJaredhenning Good to know, thank you.
This is how almost all the newer chrysler, dodge and jeeps do it too
@ratrace2p51 They aren't so bad really but I understand where your coming from.
@1ownjoo2 Yep and I believe I set you a response earlier. Good luck.
@1ownjoo2 No I did not, is it an LSD?
@JohnzCarz Good luck with that.
@gnvw57c Thanks for that.
@1ownjoo2 Diff's are fairly simple in that if they have a problem and changing the fluid doesn't help they probably need to be serviced. I would change the fluid and see if it goes away, make sure you use limited slip fluid or additive if it's a limited slip diff if not it will cause a noise and possibly damage the diff.
@TeDuaMalakie In fact it was, they have a nest just outside the shop.
You would think that the oil service light would be standardized across all makes – kind of like the generic OBD2 codes.
Hey Eric (or anyone else interested) Chevy Silverados (02 and up) use this same procedure to reset oil lights. I hate it. 🙂
Great Video Eric. Thanks for the tip.
was that a house sparrow singing in the background !!? .
@RandallFlaggNY : Don't laugh, I have done this on my 1999 Lexus Rx300. There is a short in the supply to the rear fog lights. I can replace the bulbs, out goes the warning light until I put my fogs on and bingo – the bulbs fail and the warning light comes on. I don't know where the short it is in all the Lexus spaghetti, so instead of a an orange warning light, I went for the black tape, baby! The Lexus has huge tail lights anyway so I can't see that rear Fogs are that necessary.
SWEET NICE TIP JEJE
@Begbucks I sure hope they aren't.
@rgiaco777 Actually the person that owns this truck thought that very same thing. Thanks for the comment.
@mrjost55 It's actually a similar procedure for some Honda's. Thanks for the comment.
I have to say, that's a stupid design for the maintenance light. If I had that oil can suddenly illuminate while driving and I wasn't familiar with the light, I'd probably have an aneurysm thinking it was the Low Oil Pressure light. The Honda lights (at least in my '98) are much more rational.
Cool tip!
@EricTheCarGuy make a comment, save making a video ;p . I think a variety of GM's from 99-05 or so have a similar setup, i wasn't familiar with the pedal pump before this one
That's a pretty cool procedure, more fun than what Lexus uses. On Lexus vehicles(and probably most Toyotas) you have to hold the Trip button down, while in the Crank position, which resets your odometer and turns off the maintenance light.
