  1. Not sure if anyone reads these. I have a 1983 700r4 and I’m trying to buy a torque converter. The books all say it’s 27 spline but I count 30. I know it’s been rebuilt at least once. Is this possible?

  2. I remember years ago that I had an 1987 Olds Cutlass Supreme and my reverse went out and went to this "JackLeg " repair transmission shop and they just screwed up my transmission and my reverse still wasn't working and now when I think about I could've done it myself ! Oh well you live and you learn…… Thanks for that great video fellas !

  3. My 700r4 slips after short distance. First losing od then when u stop i have no reverse but i can shut off the truck for maybe 1 min and start it back up and i then have reverse but only for a short drive then same thing happens. I can hear a winding noise when i stop and in N but stops when i put it in reverse. Transmission pan and bell housing cover gets really hot to the touch. Cant hold your fingers on them very long/2 sec.s hot. Im a poor man trying to figure this out because this is the only ride i got. All help Appreciated asap.

  4. Back in the 60s the guys in the shop usta do this right there in our shop and reinstall the transmission in the customers car. Nowadays? They just remove the problem trans ship it off to a reman shop and install a reman unit in the customer’s car. Dumbing down………

  5. Thanks for the video guys!
I've learned that the 4L60E is similar with the exception of the electronics and the valve body.

I'll be doing a rebuild and 2wd conversion on my 4L60E that's coming out of my 2001 Suburban. This transmission will be getting dropped into my '68 C10 behind a 2005 LQ4 6.0. Of course I'll be installing the heavier duty clutch packs and sun shell. It has a rebuilt 327 and TH400. It's a very dependable combo, but it's limited in performance and driveability. I am upgrading because I want the EFI and the overdrive, plus the deeper first gear.

  6. Technically the powerglide wasnt the first mass produced automatic transmission. It was actually a Hydra-matic transmission and it was also a 4 speed. 1 reverse, 3 underdrives, and 1 direct drive, no overdrive. This transmission along with the Cadillac V8 was used in tanks in WW2

  7. "Little intimidating…" Understatement of the year lol… Just looking at it gives me a nosebleed hahaha… Doing and LSx engine looks really easy in comparison probably because I have seen it so often.
