Anyone ever figure out who makes that spark plug socket?
You would see over 600 HP if you went bigger, I run a 275- 285 .675 lift and make 650 on my 360" SBC
Drag motor
Or you could just use fuel injection so you don't mess with all crap on a carburetor.
18:27 what spark plug socket is that?
It’s great to se a cast crankshaft and stock block handle some power . That said this is not a realistic setup for most people like to see more practical builds for the average car enthusiasts
Seems most people are missing the fact that the 104 race gas was oxygenated. This is like pouring in HP.
2:32 I wonder why Nick Garage don't get more hp when he use a carb spacer?
If you are gonna use race gas you. Need to run the race e85 too as its true 85 octane….. Regular e85 could be 60%…. Depending on the state….
Im almost 100% positive the gain made from e85 to 104 was the 850 to 950cfm difference. More air equals more power. Id almost bet that if you went to a 950 e85 carb it make more than a 950 on 104
As an aging motor head and tool horse, I appreciate episodes like this one, I don't do much turning of wrenches or actual work anymore do to physical reasons, however I have a 22 year old son who's a performance nut, my fault I'm sure, because he doesn't necessarily do the research needed every time I fill in the gaps with personal experience and great information I receive from channels like this, I'm confident that his future in the automotive performance world will continue, and with the 3 generations of specialist mechanic tools amassed he will have fun until it becomes impossible to do so, thanks for your continued knowledge and instructions.
I wish you had tested E85 vs race gas with the SAME size carb, and a NON oxygenated gas (110 standard). These many changes make it hard to tell what did what.
Why not EFI? Also why less compression on E85, If It prevents knock? Im no mechanic but i thought ethanol is comparable to something between 110 to 120 octanes.
Please test this combo on 91 octane pump gas (optimize timing & jetting of course) so we can see the high-dynamic-compression deltas between 91 pump, E85, and >114 octane race gas.
Lol probably at the petting zoo 😂😂😂
wait was this video already made, or did you guys take my suggestion? either way it was awesome and detailed thankyou guys
Very cool. But ""PLEASE, PLEASE"" can you put this engine on LPG propane. to see what it will make on a fuel that only costs 90 cents- $2.80 per gal. and still has over 110 octane. plus runs cleaner. i would love to see this.
I have a gen 3 coyote engine being built that lives on e85, man I wish Pat could build the long block for me, the care and detail they both put into builds is amazing
You should take that top hat off it…may make more w/o that
I think if was e85 afr wasn’t correct
gotta love the rx-7 tac they use for the dyno
Great show! Why are the front jets a different size to the rear jets? Cheers
This thing needs boooooost!
1:48 should the distributor always have O-rings??
My favorite color on a block 🤘🏼Valve covers look great
Adding fuel when using alcohol can increase power by increasing the cooling effect apparently. Obs limits to it from what I've heard but cool to see.
So Frankie grew a beard and Pat finally let himrun the throttle on the dyno…smart move young blood, smart move (scuff up your boots some more too, it'll help)
i have a question about carburetors. let's say fuel afr on average is too lean the whole rpm sweep. can you increase fuel pressure to fix that?
Ice cream or a petting zoo🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This engine sounds gorgeous in this episode!
Cast crank. Tougher than most know.
you guys should go head to head with the engine master guys
Totally awesome to see a little adjustment make a little more gain in power and torque with just basic knowledge peace and much respect Jason
Is valve-lash the same as tappet clearance ? If so, when it's reduced by 5 thou, what happens when the valve stems heat up and closes the gap even further?
