A P1456 code is a small evaporative emissions leak that has been detected in the fuel tank side of the system. The first thing I often check is to see if the fuel cap is tight, usually 3 clicks should do it. If it is tight, then I inspect the seal on the cap. If it’s dry rotted like this one, I replace it and reset the code. It usually solves the problem. I recommend OE fuel caps whenever possible.

For Nissan 2010+ 90% of time its gonna be the evap vent solenoid/canister valve
I used to use premium gas all the time in my small engines but since they started putting ethanol in it, I guess I’ll have to be more careful when storing. I’ll definitely be running the carb dry! Thanks.
I just had to replace the gas cap on my 2009 accord. With over 300,000km I just bought an aftermarket one as the car’s days are numbered due to Canadian winters. 😢
Yep – On working on an Evap leak on an 02 Celica right now. Hopefully the new cap has done the trick.
You can also lightly coat the gas cap seal with silicone grease to help the cap seal.
99.9% is not the gas cap. It is always something more serious.
Oh lord now everyone is going to continue to replace their gas cap.
Thanks will be on the lookout as I have an 04
Real mechanics make their kids drive hondas 👌 most reliable and easy to work on.
On any make of vehicle, use the OEM gasoline cap. Aftermarket caps just fail within months of use.
