P0141 O2 Heater Failure Diagnosis Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzRjqht_U3Q

Well the dreaded Civic is back. Yes this is the one I put the engine in TWICE. It’s not back for an engine thought it’s back for a speed sensor code as well as harsh shifting and a bouncing speedometer needle. This is a fairly common problem on Hondas but in this case there was come corrosion that came into play. I don’t want to give away too much though so you’re just going to have to watch the video to get the details on that. I hope you find this video useful, in fact I believe you can use this method on other makes to help verify a speed sensor failure.

  1. Oh hey bro my 92 accord is stuck on 3rd and sport light is on.. the green light on the right.. could it be the speed sensor too

  2. Ahhh the first thing i see is him looking down and sticking something in my eye 😂

  3. This is my second viewing because I’m way past due for this repair. Thanks again for sharing. 👍🏼👍🏼

  4. I don't understand the part.. where you tried to guess solve the connection problem and not put the old sensor back to see if the connection was the problem, but instead replaced it anyway, so how do we know if the connection was the problem. By the way I notice that the odometer was not working? Was it not in congruent with the speed sensor at all

  5. My civic 96 lxi has that crazy speedo, doing some shift shock noise during drive ang reverse and it kinda stuck in 3rd gear Hope u can do some videos about it…. thanks for advance eric….

  6. On my 99 civic dx I keep getting the p0720 code. I noticed on the OSS I got continuity on ground. Middlenis readi g 12 volts. Signal.wire nothing
    Where sell don in look

  7. What about the car (98 civic ex automatic) losing power while driving, dash lights stay on and speedometer stays on 40 mph? Stalls then after about 5 minutes starts back up with no problem?

  8. ❤️❤️❤️

  9. Hello! I have a 98 vw beetle, I had gotten a p0501 code on the obd2 scanner I looked it up and it said to replace the vss so I did but yet I still get the check engine light. By the way the speedometer does not read speed

  10. Thank you. I did some maintenance on my connector last night while putting in a new speed sensor, and as far as I was able to find through experimentation and observation, the rubber gasket should go in BEFORE the white guide clip. I tried putting it on in the same order as you did in the video (white clip first, then rubber seal), but I couldn’t overcome the resistance trying to plug it in, so I pulled it apart and tried gasket first. Still felt some resistance (the gasket probably could have used a bit of lubrication), but when it clicked it felt “right.” Thanks again for this, and your countless other helpful videos.

  11. So I have the same problem but I changed the speedometer and now my speedometer works but my trans still slipping do you think if I just put back the old one and fix that that’s the problem

  12. HI Eric, I have a 2003 Buick lesabre and it hard shifts so I pulled a coil failed code and replaced it ,it was OK for a few days now I have a slight hard shift comes and goes changed fluid to no avail. would a EGR valve stuck case this ?
    ?

  13. Also codes PO135 and PO141. Car will crank but engine doesn't turn over if you restart the car shortly after turning it off. I've noticed that I can put the car in 1st gear crank it up mash the accelerator pop the clutch and the engine starts up. Would any of these 3 codes or problems have anything to do with the car not being able to start up after it is warm. There's never been a problem starting he engine when it's cold. Btw, 369,000 miles.

  14. Eric, I got a CR-V 2000, I recently replaced the whole engine, now sometimes, the car shows the check engine light when I reach almost 60mph… I also noticed that when it is about to turn on the check engine light, the RPM seems to be high for the speed the car is going at. The guy a the repair shop were we changed the engine told me that it could be the speed sensor. The problem is not seen when the car is running at less than 60 mph. If I turn off the car and start it again, the engine light is gone, possibly until the next time I hit a high speed, sometimes it does it, sometimes it does not.
Do you think I should replace the speed sensor or try something else.
    Thanks!

  15. I own a 96 Civic. Love it. It’s more reliable than my more expensive vehicles. Thanks for sharing this valuable information. 👍🏼👍🏼

  16. mine went bad just like in this video what happened is that i changed coolant hose last time and it got coolant on top of the connector mine didnt have the seal careful when changing hoses

  17. I have civic 99 civic with auto gear,
1 and second gear change normal while 3rd gear need 3300 rpm when its change , is it normal or not

  18. My 1998 Civic LX isn't experiencing issues with the speed sensor in 2020, but then again, I didn't have my engine replaced TWICE…

  19. my car is losing power at high speed but will come back its it gets to a lower speed my speedometor dosent work and the code for the speed sensor is on do you think its the same problem or deeper??

  20. Thanks for the nice video. I apparently ravaged some part of my speed sensor mechanism when replacing transmission control cables on a manual 5 speed. I get to survey the damage done tomorrow.
Replace the PCV valve! Especially on older cars, and newer vehicles that you want to age much more nicely. It is cheap, easy, and will help keep your engine from becoming pressurized with exhaust, which should've exited through the PCV valve, and forcing oil leaks in various places. Another popular YT mechanic (SK) recommends doing it every three years. When in doubt, just change it. It is cheap, easy and protects your engine!

  21. Hey Eric I have the same issue but my sometimes works sometimes it doesn’t work my vss I put trans oil and check the level but still sometimes works sometimes don’t what u think 🤔 could b ???

  22. “Sort of twist it back and forth a little bit. It’s just an o-ring we’re trying to overcome here.” Invaluable knowledge. Invaluable. Saved me a long night, some busted knuckles, and perhaps worse. Thank you Eric the Car Guy!
