NHRA made history this week when the organization announced it will allow Pro Stock racers to run any currently approved engine combination in any currently approved body, no matter who the manufacturer is next season. According to a statement from the NHRA, they’re hoping this will provide fans with more variety of entries like Dodge Darts and Ford Mustangs instead of the typical Chevy Camaro.
Other rules for the class such as requiring an internal-combustion engine and a body choice from 2009 or later are staying the same. Are you happy with the change? Let us know in the comments.
This week on PowerNation Katie is joined by Detroit Muscle host Tommy Boshers who is on the road at the YearOne Braselton Bash in Braselton, Georgia. He’ll check out the yearly fundraiser for the Hot Rod Children’s Charity including silent auction, poker night, and car show. It’s raised over a half a million dollars over the last 12 years. Plus there’s a new twist in 2017; the Chip Foose Select Edition Car Show.
Plus Katie’s featured ride is a single owner 1971 Pontiac GTO painted in “Bittersweet Orange”. Owner Laurie Benjamin has restored almost every part back to like new. It’s a full block of tech this week, check it out.
