On July 20, 2013 we had the 2nd annual ETCG Meet Up at my shop. It was epic. People came from as far away as Arizona and Colorado. Aside from having a good time we also took a closer look at that Chevy 5.3L engine that lost compression in cylinder #6 in the Tahoe engine series. Turns out the cylinder walls are fine, the head gasket was fine, and there were no other obvious signs of damage. This further solidifies my theory that it was the piston rings lining up that caused the compression loss. That said, it was a great time, I really enjoyed meeting everyone that made the trip and I can’t wait till next year to do it again. Here’s some links and stuff.

  1. Och? Det hindrar inte folk från att åka utomlands. Det är fortfarande bara en fråga om tid, pengar och att man har någonstans att bo.

  2. Hey Eric, I repaired cars for many years working with a person who helped me out like you do on the net. I always enjoyed the great feeling when the car is fixed. I hope you can get a rotary lift someday, they make life in the garage so much more bearable. best of luck to all your future endeavors and thanks for all the info, staying dirty, fast oranging clean! Ron.

  5. Salam alaykom (peace with you) EricTheCarGuy, I have been watching your vids for about 6 month now, I have learned a lot to the point I was able to replace the clutch, pressure plate and to resurface the flywheel as the way how you did it, by just watching your tutorial videos, I saved 600$, and also you have a good heart man, thank you so much my brother EricTheCarGuy, I wish you a real good luck from the bottom of my heart, god bless you and be safe, have fun stay dirty, I like to say that:)

  6. That 5.3L reminds me of an old Buick Electra my dad purchased cheap back in the early 80s. It was. A 77 it began running rough after a couple years, turned out the compression rings on cylinder #3 were installed upside down from the factory.
