I can get a good deal on an ls7 short block and I have a set of ls3 heads and intake already. Do the ls3 heads bolt on a ls7 block with no issues? Will I have any issues with the different valve angles?
My crate LS7 with 227/242 591/.590 lift 116 lsa made 562 whp
the LS7 was also avalible in the Z28 Camaro ..which was wet sump
Use Doosan
Hey I have an LS7 and got the conversion kit from Jeggs it uses the OE timing chain, and LS3 pan and pump. Do you think I should use the Holley or will the stock set up work? It just doesn't have that oil pan door setup under the windage tray. Would love your opinion. Rob.
They used this engine and dry sump on the 2014 – 2015 Z/28 Camaro also which the ls7 has a longer key way for the crank sprocket. To do this to a ls9, you need to take the crank to a machine shop and have the crank snout key way extended to allow for the crank cam gear .just did one. 😎
Where’s the dipstick ?
The dysfunctional hail progressively wander because magazine contrarily retire worth a splendid bath. cynical, wide-eyed consonant
I guess these guys never hear of a Z28.
The ls7 is not the most sought after gm engine. The 6.0 is.
Our performance shop installed one of these recently, for a customer & good friend's 5th gen Camaro SS. With a custom cam thanks to TSP, various other goodies and a proper tune, "Roxanne" is now a monster ready to dominate the track! See her shine at mcr-tuning.com and find us on Twitter and fb.
Vee—hick-ell
They also used the engine in 5th gen Camaro z-28
I love how you use that oil pan to prevent slosh. You know what else I'd good for that. A dry sump…
Nice job ruining an ls7
I like how there were zero gaskets on everything you removed.
Same engine was installed in the 2014/2015 Camaro Z/28’s which also have dry dumps installed as a track ready car. Somewhere around 2200 cars built. Get facts straight guys.
double-helix valve springs would be the way to go… wtf is up with power nation..
the leak is where the rear of the pan meets the rear main seal plate – just sayin'
pickup redundancy.. only dry sump is a small ass oil pan to return to the res.
Kinda blows my mind y'all didn't touch on the valve guides on ls7s or the rockers geometry.
To anyone noticing they didn't mention the fact that the Z28 also had the LS7 in 2014-2015, this video was originally filmed in 2014, probably early. So it was very likely before or right around the time of the announcement/release of the Z28.
and in the 2014 Camaro Z/28
Awesome!
a lot of errors. LS7 was also available in Camaro's after it ended in the Vette. LS7 was not the only dry sump LS, LS3 was also available as dry sump option in Grand Sport Vettes.
@Powernation…..do you have a baseline dyno number WITH the dry sump?
Great as always. Could you guy do one about breaking in a new build? Rings, oil, etc..
😁👌👍✌🖖😎
I wish I could find a donor motor that was that clean.
Ive always liked the LS engines, easy to make HP and lots of options for upgrades. But IMO most GMs bad oil flow is usually the cause of death. their might have been a reason they used the tank system on this vette engine. upgrading the oil pump should help
Sounds horrible at idle…great wide open but lifter slap at idle is just no good IMHO.
Abraham Lincoln must be the New Host, lol !!!
Only an idiot would Change from dry sump to wet systems
I'm amazed how these guys can remember the brand name of all the parts I wish they were throwing the part numbers I hope I can get free stuff when I open up a shop to film all this stuff
I’m planning on LS swapping my 95 civic I was wondering if anyone had any tips??
Why in the hell remove the heads to swap the springs?! And why not dual springs and new seals?!?! Pushrods?
Damn good informative video boys.
Mike back
Yeah I don't think Amish Mike can be trusted with a burr yet either
Also used in the '08 HSV W427 Commodore (with dry sump) in Australia.
And the HSV HRT427 concept car, with dry sump and individual throttle bodies 🥰
The LS7 was available in the 2015-2016 Z28 camaro as well
