  1. Rick Bacon talking about the bumpers not being cool. Clearly a guy who has that facial hair and wears the type of sunglasses like himself, doesn't know what's cool or not.

  2. Not going to lie, the door handles were a terrible mod, BUT, i would love to give my 82 El Camino a similiar bumper treatment, tuck them closer to the body so they don't stick out so much.

  3. I loved this show but after realizing a few years later, that $10,000 project had Nearly $10,000 in Labor alone. It's one of the reason Velocity / Motor Trend went away from this type of show. Now the shows are more down to earth and show 2-3 repairs on a car. I love Tommy Boswell and hope he catches another show!

  4. Tip for plug welding holes. Clamp a small piece of 1/4 brass behind the hole, then fill. The weld will not adhere to the brass and the molten steel will not flow out of the hole. EazyPezyTrapezy.

  5. GET REAL BUDDY those big real metal chromed bumper are loved more than hated, I had a Honda Civic rear end me in my 84 Buick Regal….Buick had no damage and the civic bumper, grill hood and one fender were crumpled, all because of those bumpers

  6. another way to slim down the bumper horizontally, is to cut not the end cap, but to slice instead thru the bumper jack hole. No reason to trust old bolts to hold the car up when changing a flat–esp. after you just cut up the bumper mounts. Better to cruise the junkyard looking for truck jacks that will work.

  7. Replacing those door handles was dumb. That cheap plastic will break in about 5 years . If you really wanted different door handles, you'd have done better with AMC handles; at least, that would have better fit the 70's aesthetic of the car.

And the bumper mods; removing the airshock ability of the mounts defeats half the purpose of the bumper, and doesn't really improve the appearance. Then, removing the vertical push bars… really?? Part of the attraction of older cars, is the ability to use your coupe or sedan to push stuff, like other cars, if needed. And, you're not even going to rechrome the bumper?

Two crappy mods that would be more trouble than it's worth to undo.

Gee, I can't wait to see what other classic styling that you'll destroy, in your efforts to utilize the most worthless parts of modern car design.

  8. Love what you do, guys, but removing the bumperettes is a little too much for me. It's like turning a buff guy with a strong jaw into a soyboy with a weak chin. I would've just turned that Buick into a souped-up cop car

  9. I love this project. My first car was a 1973 Buick Century Luxus in 1983. The bumper tuck and rear bumper modification is great. It is what the car really needed.

  10. those plastic door handles will fail you, they came off a car that had lighter doors. there not meant for a door that weighs around 150lbs, the ironic thing is the dime a dozen handles you threw away will end up out living the plastic ones you grafted in. should have used metal handles from something else instead.

  11. Helpful piece of info # 5829….. People with hi-def TVs and computer screens should take heed when watching welding. The guy doing the welding wears a mask not just to protect his face and eyes from slag but also so he doesn't lose his night vision from eye arcs. Well…guess what? With today's hi-def screens…you run the same risk to your vision as the welder does. So dim that screen a bit or do something to lessen the impact of the flash on your eyeballs or you may find some night that you can't see crap while driving and that can be scary.

  12. Of course they fucked up the bumpers. The bumpers look fine.
You guys spent an entire episode chopping up a beautiful car, instead of actually doing any actual low buck performance mods.
    How are ya'll employed?
