While Rebuilding this Burn Totaled Ferrari, I coincidentally ran into the previous owner, and he sent me several thousand worth of Original Ferrari Parts belonging to this car… He also told me the complete story of how it caught on fire.

Did Tom change the inline fuel filter when he replaced the fuel pump? If he didn’t then there’s a chance that there was a clog in the filter that was causing the pump to work extra hard and since the part might have been faulty to begin with it could have caused a wire or connection to corrode then short creating an arc or spark and then the subsequent fire.
Sword fight
I don't think you can read too much into the color of the polymer of the pump hat.
What’s with all of these car YouTubers buying salvage cars and miraculously getting thousands of dollars in parts for free from the previous owners? Seems sus. ðŸ¤â€Â
Every ferrari should come standard with fire extinguisher
Perhaps, the old design, NOS pump could have been very old and the plastic degrades with time not use.
Anybody ever notice Samcrac sounds EXACTLY like John C Riley.
I dont like to say this but there is chance that the dealer never replaced the pump with the newer style.
CSI Samcrac and his assistant Ratarossa!
Maybe see if the guy wants to buy it back after
On the burned pump the red wire below the top piece was not connected
A huge thanx to the previous owner for supplying all those parts and, for what I consider the best part, is the documentation. That is worth thousands of dollars. The previous owner of that car should be awarded "Ferrari owner of the Year". That guy is so F-ing great I would really like to meet him. For someone to care so much and do so much for his car is unbelievable. That guy is probably what Ferrari would like every Ferrari owner should be… but its not…. And… really good video. Thank you very much Sam
10:09 I’ve never seen a
Middle Eastern man so happy until I seen Sam unboxing those Ferrari parts. Nice haul ðŸ‘ÂÂðŸÂ»
Do fuel pumps generally look like they’re made out of recycled 1950’s Tupperware and rebar, or is this just a Ferrari thing?
Hey sam im so glad you finished a car fully instead of it being a paddock car like most of your other cars you get .
Props to the previous owner (Tom) took care n really love this car.
With all of his concerns, why didn't Tom have a fire extinguisher?? Makes no sense!
Better help is bad. Questionable practices.
Only way I buy wrecked cars is seeing how it was put back together. With most of everything on video, this one doesnt worry me. It will drive just as well.
Wow Tom is a top chap. It is rare to see people give stuff these days. He is also very organized.
Those air boxes are useful after I saw how bad the carbon ones dealt with the fire.. what a gent the previous owner is. â¤
My man grew old making a car restoration video 😂
Lol who opens boxes with a bare razor blade?
If you do fuel work and are "monitoring it for leaks", at least carry an extinguisher!
Don’t yet sued by Ferrari
i don't understand why he had no fire extinguisher when he knew there was a fault.
That guy sent you all that stuff for that car for free?
I love how these two are making every excuse in the book to try and deny that Ferrari makes defective fuel pumps. Are newer Ferraris still catching on fire today? YES they are! So stop making excuses! Jay Leno, one of the biggest car collectors in the world, admits his Ferraris have caught on fire. This is why he doesn't buy them anymore.
I can't imagine the feeling of a car you cherished and meticulously took care of, bursting into flames.
This has always made me laugh. Funny enough, Ferrari is the Ford of the sports car world. Ferrari has always had a problem with their fuel pumps. They had the option of commissioning Denso to engineer fuel pumps for them, but they refused. YOU are an idiot if you buy a Ferrari! They knowingly engineer their vehicles with known, possibly deadly, defects.
This is a car guys dream 😮
over 4 years ago???? WTF
My Mercedes had the same issue. Top of the fuel pump cracked and seeped fuel. I noticed a fuel smell while it was parked in the garage and traced it to the cracked fuel pump. Not sure how this happens other than manufacturing error since the pump is all buttoned up under the rear seats and can't be tinkered with unless you remove the rear seat and steel covers, but it happens.
Maybe the same manufacturer
u seem like a normal and nice guy.
Sam and Scott, I think the owner filled the tanks to the brim on his last drive before 'testing' the car. I also think that he hadn't seated the main seal on the fuel pump all the way to the tank (maybe he didn't tighten the plastic collar correctly). When he started to drive fast some fuel seeped out of that sealing area and got onto something hot resulting in a fire. This would explain why with maximum fuel onboard the car didn't quickly become an inferno….just a little seeped out. Just my educated guess (I've worked on chemical tankers and have seen what happens when an overfill gets into a pressure relief valve).
0:16 vTuned!
Samcrac ought to be a radio host or have his own podcast. Not necessarily about cars 😂
What a generous man Tom is to gift you all those accessories
