  1. The easiest way to deal with wet carpets is to just take the seats/interior trim out and pull the carpets, use a shop vac to dry everything as best as you can and sit everything in the sun for as long as you can. More time consuming than dumping rice, but it's really the only way to fully dry out the carpet/padding.

  2. I think cat litter would have worked better. Load it into some socks or pillowcases and chuck it in the car for a few days

  3. i agree with the wet/dry vac and fan but instead of rice i would have used baking soda as it would get the rest of the moisture and help prevent mold/bad smells. rice only works on electronics. you could also use a pillow case filled with salt to help drying

  4. That much moisture you might wanna let it sit a little longer…. Rice will naturally absorb the moisture but I think it was a case of too much water for too little rice. If ya let it sit there for longer it would have likely worked better.

  5. What i did to remove humidity from my car was to put cardboard/any kind of paper between the layers of carpet, then just keep changing them for new ones until its they aren't absorbing anymore water. After that, just opened the car doors and let it fully dry in the sun.

  6. Why not replace the entire flooring instead of wasting time with drying it. That will cause someone to get sick from possible mold inhalation

  7. you can pull the rubber plug and let it drain out put a huge shop fan blowing in the car… open all the doors. i had one that leaked at the firewall i just pulled the seats and carpet out pulled the plugs left the sound deadener in the car fixed the seam that was leaking used 3 koolaid packs in a garden mixer to test if it still leaked resealed ….. took 3 times to get it sealed but once it was sealed it was fine. This was a hard hit, got the car free fixed it and sold it for the parts cost that kid had that car for years, he ended up hitting a truck with it he siad he was going at least 40 totaled out the truck he gave me back the car lol and bought another one at full price. The car was fixed again but this time had close to 120000 miles on it I gave it to a tow truck driver for towing a car from the auction 🙂 that car was still going with over 150000 miles on it last I heard, btw the 2nd damage was no worse then the first damage other then the airbags went off, key is fixing them correctly :).

  8. Sam-hack-N-pack-crac. Shout out to uncle bens for saving our flooded vehicles allowing us to resell the hazord.

  9. here's a tip, just take the carpets and seats out of the car and power wash the carpets and air dry. Get new padding and pull tgge seats apart tho dry them out.
