How To Solve An Engine Overheat Condition – EricTheCarGuy
http://www.ericthecarguy.com/
I actually had fun putting this one together for you since the car I was working on didn’t cooperate it made it so I could show you real world problems as they happened, very cool. I think this one is pretty self explanatory so I will save a long explanation. In case you missed the link to the “Bleeding a Cooling System” here is a link for you

Thank you so much for delivering this knowledge Eric ")
Bro- you are an epic teacher.
Replaced headgaskets on my RRS 4.2 SC.
Mechanic said that they blew. Started up the car and the initial problem is still there , the water reservoir tank starts bubbling over when the car gets to running temperature while its idling. Replace thermostat , replaced waterpump, new radiator ..not sure what else too replace.? should buy a new engine.🙄…. and suggestions.? #southafrica
What about if I had the radiator replaced AND I hear WATER sound swissing around in / thru inside the dash ??
Great video! It helped me properly diagnose the failed thermostat on my 87 Chevy pickup.
hey eric, quick question. Is it ok to use 0.9 radiator cap on my radiator? I use the 1.1 BTW
Hi Eric, I love your videos. I have got a volvo v50 T AWD, 2005 model. The Ac compressor got suspended and cut off the two belt which I had to replace the compressor including the two belt. But later days the Ac only cools only when the engine wasn't hot and give hot air when the engine is hot. Please I need some guidelines on what to do. Should I replace the pressure switch, the air dryer because I changed the compressor?
Again I have replaced the coolant tank, the old one has cracked and leaks but some times the temperature goes higher. What should I do more.. please do write your email address for me. Thanks
Here in 2021. Vid still holds up my man
Where's your mask Eric, lolololol, I just had to say that.
2021 and still a relevant video!
Thank you Eric. I watched this video after my '05 V-6 Mustang was over heating at stops and Idle; this after just paying $500.00 to have a new radiator put in. Your video caused me to examine the fan. Low and behold the mechanic forgot to plug the fan back in. Thank you.
Great video. It saved me $800. I figured out that the radiator cap valve was bad. It was bleeding into the reservoir but not sucking back into the radiator. A mechanic tried to tell me I needed a head gasket changed and was going to charge me $800.
Great vid eric
I'm just adding a comment to boost the metrics. A 10 year old video, but who cares! I loved it, and want to do more than just turn the up thumb blue. Stay safe.

Had a brain fart with this on Kia Sedona….man that car made me sale it
👠job love the content
I have a car that the radiator fan does turn on but after the car is already overheating. Could this be the switch? Thanks
Wish I washed this first. Took off the coolant cap while car was still on…. I’m glad I still have my hand
Great information thank you .
From the UK
Thanks
Check coolant sensor or temperature sensor
Excellent videos you produce, thanks ! Wish I would’ve watched before I did the process of elimination, mostly in the wrong order lol. 2012 grand Cherokee 3.6 Pentastar with 186k miles. Got it back from the dealer doing a head gasket (warranty issue) and it kept overheating. So I replaced a couple therms, then eventually a 3rd with a Mopar therm…. which it’s running cooler with, but I’m still getting a leak somewhere cause after 15-20 miles the radiator needs to be topped off. I also replaced the relays, checked the fuses, and replaced the fan itself. Then I pressure tested the system and it’s good to go. Doesn’t seem to be any whiteish oil on the inside of the filter housing nor is there any bubbles in the overflow but I ordered a block testing kit that’ll be here tomorrow. Only other thing I can think of would be the coolant system sensor on the block, which fortunately will be covered under my extended lifetime warranty. Can you suggest anything else? I’m frustrated as hell with this and at my whits end
Thank you Eric well explainedðŸ‘ÂÂ
All I wanted to know is how to change brakes next thing I know Because of you I’m a weekend warrior mechanic lol
Dude send me the mechanic test papers now, I’m ready!!!!!!
Các video hay

What happens if I don't have that tool that you have?
Thank you.
Where is the link on how to bleed your coolant?
can you link the tool you were using here. I checked on your web and nada…. amazon is selling cheap crap stuff and over priced and fake reviews.
What's the issue if the fan comes only if you pull the engine control module relay?.as soon as it's plugged back in the fan shuts off
Any thoughts on why hoses are collapsing. Had head gasket replaced. But not ruling it out. Going to see if over flow hose plugs, replace radiator cap and hoses but something is causing to much pressure and blowing it out the overflow
WHERE are you? I want you to be my mechanic. You're amazing. Best instruction on this subject and I've watched a ton of these how-to's. Thank you for being articulate! Your manner of instruction is so comprehensible. You're also funny. Way to make a tedious subject interesting! One question. What about the water pump? Is that not a component worth considering?
Once upon a time I had a Ford, a 2000 model come to the shop. Customer concern was that it always overheats, confirmed the truck was overheating, immediately noticed the coolant was rust and definitely had no flow. My diag was the water pump was no longer pumping due to the impellers being eaten away by the rusty and toxic coolant. I made my estimate up to replace the water pump, radiator, all coolant hoses, perform a power flush to the cooling system, hose clamps, coolant, and etc. I also told the service writer that since its summer time the heater core will more than likely will need to be replaced before winter. All repairs were approved, commercial vehicle it was and they wanted it to be repaired correctly. It took me quite some time to extract the disgusting coolant out of the engine, yes I know you can't get all of it but I got it good enough so I would never see it back for the same reason again. Replaced everything including the heater core and when it was done, the customer/manager of that company came in and wanted to see the water pump, I showed him, he was pissed!!! Not at me but the old shop they used, I quickly found out that the water pump had just been supposedly replaced 2 months prior. Nope it wasn't. Me honestly diag and fixing their fleet truck caused our shop to get ALL of their business!!! I are really good for over a year just fixing their fleet trucks but also made the shop tons of good publicity too.
Hey Eric I have a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder se I had gone to my job and realized that the antifreeze was coming out of the overflow and the meter was on high.. I got it towed to my house and realize that the upper hole that connects to the radiator was Cold and the other half going to the mottor was hot.I did the funnel trick adding the antifreeze halfway putting up the heat on high and gave it gas.. it started bubbling up.but the bubbles did stop and came back then the heat came back on ..the holes was circling the antifreeze into the radiator again like it was suppose to …I didn't jack up the front of the car..and I didn't text drive it left the car sitting for one day and now I turn on the car and realize that half of the radiator was hot …if u were to stand in front of the car the left side was hot but the right side some what cold.im in NYC Brooklyn and imscared to drive it like that what should I do …I had the car running already for an hour sitting out..and it doesn't over heat ..I had put it also on drive for a while and doesn't overheat ..is it safe to drive..please help me
Good
Hopefully you see this. I have radiator leak out the bottom of radiator, added coolant and its still overheating within 15 minutes. What do I need to do. Because it's leaking does that mean I just need to replace radiator? Or can I use seal stuff that goes in the radiator? Or is it more then just the leak
