There are a few different methods you can use for tire repair. The method I show in this video is considered the ‘best possible tire repair’. This method is also known as the “Tire Plug/Patch Repairâ€ÂÂ.
**Be sure to check with your tire manufacture to see what repairs are acceptable with their products.

Your supposed to use drill bit to go from inside and outside a few times so that the wiring tire can level out. You missed a few steps. I'm a tech also fyi.
Well done. Thanks! I just had my tire repaired at a shop and it looks like they used this method but I noticed a little rubber nub sticking out past the surface of the tire. Is that normal or should I cut it flat to the surface of the tire?
You seem to care a lot more about what the tire manufacturer wants than I do.
Great clip
Good Job . LIKE
Lol. That 100% ain't a tire patches I made. Our black gum has red poly instead of blue and our blue poly has grey gum instead. Also I hate the black gum. Shit is a nightmare. Super sticky and if you have too take apart a patch cause something the solvent we use it like bleeds some of the black color from it and it just get all over your hands. Nasty stuff.
If it would ever take 10 minutes to get a tire fixed I would be a happy guy. I pick up nails all the time as I go to the dump every day sometimes 3 times a day.
Good
I bought a new tire as my hole was in the danger area only to find out with all wheel drives the new tire diameter would confuse computer so next get the tire shaved guess what nobody does tire shaving anymore.
That "pre-buff" cleaner? Is simply Carb cleaner.
I anyone wanted to know how to do a plug and not the Patch. Here's the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xq3dDoYRlQg
Yeah, well, I don’t have a tire mounting or balancing machine, so I guess I’m stuck with the old school plugs.
Dude! Keep the beard! Chicks are gonna want honest repairs from miles around. This Disabled Veteran might want to help out. Working on cars alone sucks big time. I own a 2000 Mustang GT. No, Mustangs are not just for Females. This straight guy loves the Modular design and I noticed that you appreciate it as well. – A note of encouragement for you to keep going. Your information is very helpful and God Bless America.
The cost of that type of repair is probably close to the cost of a replacement tire.ðŸ˜ÂÂ.
Plugs are just as good get them deep enough into tire
The mechanic at a busy tire shop told me most flats in the U.S. are the right rear. Reason stated was that more road debris is closer to the curb side where a nail or screw is run over by the front tire which kicks it airborne where it's then punctures the rear tire.
my car front drive.my car rear 2 tyre very bad.put new tyre front or rear which one better?
Your viewers don't have tire changing machines so it's not a good video make videos of real life situation. We don't have a mechanics garage.
We do the same repair process at the tire shop I work at.
I do plugs all the time im a truck driver ..i do waste management so nails is almost sure to get….myvguestiin is how to remove nails in too deep easier
This how I started when I was a general service technician at Merchants tire and Auto ,and Goodyear tire fix from the inside
Better to patch the tire or replace it with new tire?
All kumho tires used in this video?
I've used beef jerky looking plugs for the past 25 years and haven't had any problems at all. Not to say I won't ever, but I'll keep doing them the way I do them. Dismount the tire? Pfft…hahah yeah right
no extra sploosh of sealant on the outter plug because of vapor damages seal? aslo was the last sealant you used just more rubber cement?
this is for a shit tire shop
plug patches are cheap plug then patch
plug patch is thin thin rubber a patch is made with fiber
plug the tire then apply fiber patch
the reason is you dont know how or where that tire is going 140 on highway for a 8 hr trip at plus 30
or a guy hitting 250 km on a bike petend for the worst grand pa has a kid that likes to drift
wish tire shop would stop saying that should be good no it is good
i have that Tire Changer machine
Do you need the special drill bit, or is there a regular bit that can work? Also, what is the diameter of that bit? Is it the same as the diameter of the plug?
I'll keep using plugs i had a nail in my brand new tire i used a plug myself and its 8 years not even losing air and tire is bald lol
Very informative
so… no fire?
You are not advertising because they didn't pay you… but here if you are trying to help it would b nice to know what tht is.
I wondered what happened to Chris Elliott
while the tire is off I would clean that rim as well or it will start leaking in the bead area just saying but that is just me
eric this may be realistic for at a shop where there are tire machines. i work in a shop and at home. at the shop i have tire machines. and home and in the trunk of my car I do not . in my trunk i have a tire plug kit works grate to get you home and to a tire shop been doing it that way since I was 16 and im 55 now and I will keep doing that way
Before pulling the stem thru lube it with cement!
I have a question, at 1:17 you mark the area where a tire could be repaired, is that still up to standard with tires repairs, because I have reading and told that the tires shouldnt be repaired on that area, instead only between the line that you have the nail. is that still true?
Thanks for acknowledging the subjectivity of repair options and policies. Can be really maddening when people don't do that.
I've dismounted by hand but I think I'd rather go with a plug
