Broken wiper arms is a common problem in the winter months. If your wipers are active when they are frozen to the windshield, they can be damaged and become inoperative. They can also fail all on their own. That said, this video covers the basic steps and common problems you might run into if you have broken wipers. The vehicle is a 1998 Mazda 626 but the procedure is pretty common to most vehicles I’ve encountered. With a little time, effort, and common sense, you can have your wipers working again in no time.
I also cover the operation of the ‘park’ switch, which is responsible for the wipers coming to rest when you turn them off. This is also a common problem that is often solved by replacing the wiper motor.

try to link the wiper arm to the throttle cable, this way you can either rev the engine from outside the hood, or when you accelerate you can wipe your windshield
What should I use to lubricate the wiper linkage? WD40 wont stay there long…
Hey Eric! From your video it looks like there isn't a "measurement" that needs to be done when putting back wiper arms. I recently removed wiper arm(driver side) from my car as I needed to access the cowl. When I put it back, I just did it from my memory and don't know if I aligned it properly as it was before.
I just replace my linkage, why its moving down a little bit first before moving up?

Have a 97 f150 wipers
Power windows and 4×4 switch, none work how to wire wipers to work. Turn wipers on then turn the key on wipers go up and back down 1time or driving turn wipers on nothing open driver's door and same thing go up and down 1time then nothing else.????

I have to do this on my 95 Maxima. It looks like the same exact motor just reversed orientation. I tried to get it out but I had to much snow and ice built up on the cowell ( spell check thought I was trying to spell cowbell so I’m sure I misspelled it lol) anyway I’m going to have to pull it in the garage and let it thaw out first.
Thank you for this! 4 people have 'fixed' my wipers, INCLUDING my mechanic. After watching this, I feel like I can fix them myself! They crossed once, causing the driver side wiper bolt to become loose. My mechanic tightened the bolt, then put some type of goop on it to keep the bolt from coming loose again. Needless to say, they worked one day, then they same problem happened again. I'm guessing I need to replace that bolt, and possibly the arm, then make sure they are positioned correctly before using them, or they will cross and get hung up again. Thanks again for making me feel like I can do this, or at least direct someone else HOW to do it.

Informative video, thanks. Will have to do this for my 2003 Hyundai Tiburon. The motor works, but front wipers don't. You answered the question whether it may just need the bars replaced. Also, I have a 93 Nissan pick up that seems to work in overdrive with one speed. How can I slow it down? Have a feeling lots of things were removed on the this pu while painting for the previous owner. Would it have a park switch? They never seem to go down completely either. Had one before and it seemed to work normal.

have a 94 toyota 4×4,wipers sometimes will not turn off until you turn the key off…any ideas?
mine won't turn off. They are always on medium speed, unless I put them on high. I just replaced the switch but it didn't help. 97 civic ex.

My wipers are completely dead, one day they went past the windscreen and stopped working. you can move them completely. problem is I can't get any parts for my car.
