If you own a 1991-1995 Acura Legend or 1996-2004 Acura RL, you likely have a broken transmission mount and this video will help you find and repair it.

For me, the hardest part is getting the exhaust unbolted. Once that’s done, it’s really an easy parts replacement from there.

  1. Polyurethaned mount ahead of time and you'll never ever have a broken mount again. That is if you enjoy the same procedure over and over..

  2. Problem with my rl, once it warms up it shifts from Park to reverse fine. Before I fully warms up, it does clunk, pretty bad. Would it be safe to say it is just the trans mount and nothing else?

  3. My 91 legend might have this very same problem, and I just got it out of the garage 2 days ago after replacing both head gaskets on it , oh well.

  4. Eric I just want to thank you. I bought 2002 Acura rl 4 years ago with 229000. Watching your videos you help me change the rack, tie rods inner and outer ball joints, knuckles axle struts rear and front fuel pump, rotors brakes calipers, brake brackets, and I think that’s it but thank you again

  5. I have this problem on my 93' legend, thanks from France for this video 😉 I will buy new transmission mount and replace it 😉

  6. so my question is first great video btw, mine is a 94 acura legend 3.2 The removal will be same way right like you said maybe just a different pattern of bolts but in the same location ?

  7. Hi, with worn transmission mount, will it cause a loud thumping sound when you turn left or right from a intersection etc on acceleration? My 2006 Ford Territory/Explorer has started doing that thumping sound & you can feel through the drivers & front passenger seats & the centre console area.

  8. Great video! I started watching your videos hoping to find something on replacing the RL O2 sensor (P0132 code) and found this. Now, I'll be replacing my O2 sensor and transmission mount. I've had issues with shifting in reverse for a while, but my mechanic didn't have a solution. Now, I can kill both those birds with one stone. Thanks!

  9. ETCG, Great Video!  Thank you.  I am getting a clunk when I go into reverse, I guess time to do this shortly.  I have a 2002 RLAwesome Car, I love it,  please keep the RL Videos going, I need one on the timing belt for this model. Thanks again for having some of the best Video's on you tube.

  10. I advise you to revise the title. This is completely useless for me because my exhaust on my 00' looks nothing like this. Theres no bolts after the cat, its welded straight on.

  11. Hi there from Germany Eric! Gotta say I really like your videos a lot. Very simple methods, great explanation. But what I don't like is the fact that Americans tend to not care about torgue values that much, do they? 🙂

  12. Shouldn't there be loctite on those fasteners since they are dissimilar metals that expand and contract at different rates?

  13. "If you throw it on the ground just right, it makes a really loud noise."

Any video where Eric throws something is my favorite because that's how I work too.

  14. Hey Eric, don't you usually use silicone spray for rubber parts like those exhaust hangars? Just wondering if penetrating oil will eat away at the rubber.
