Does your Honda K series engine have a sizable oil leak? If so, it could be the VTEC solenoid gasket that’s leaking. In this video I show you how to remove and replace the VTEC solenoid gasket on a 2009 Accord with a K24 (2.4L) engine.

What do you use for the cleaning solution?
DID YOU REPLACE THE O-RING? PART NUMBER 15815-RAA-A02?
WHAT DID YOU USE TO CLEAN ?? Looks new.
Can it be repaired from below? You have to move too many things to do it from above. They might get damaged.
Great video and explaining procure thanks a lot
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I had to do this on my 2003 RSX base today and your video made it much less nerve wracking. I noticed I had a CEL regarding the VTEC solenoid, and smelled oil under the hood, also noticing losing a significant amount. I was worried I had a major issue, came across this, traced the leak to the solenoid, and so far, so good. No more leaking!
Tricky operation; not for the fainthearted such as the over-the-weekend-amateur-mechanic.

03 hondas only use 3 bolts for the solenoid
hii ,i have already changed the gasket twice, but there`s still oil leak….whats the solution pls
Hey awesome thanks mate, when I did this I swear my car gained power? When I used cruise control it use to rev really hard to keep the speed, last night I did a 200kms drive to test if it turns my light off, but on cruise control she bearly reved at all and keeped speed much closer too
is that same as a accord 2005 3.0l??? Good video thanksðŸ‘ÂÂ
Did this job on a 06 CRV and still have a sizable oil leak from somewhere in that area. Its dry around the spool valve. Only seems to leak at higher RPM .Ideas?
Always enjoy your videos you describe everything perfect I'm about to do the same job on my 2005 Honda Accord. I'm going to change and clean out the screen filter connected to the engine right behind the pulley tensioner also you're right it was cuz of letting my oil go too long and real dirty so nice to see this video.
Thanks again
What can I expect to pay at a mechanic for this job? I don't trust myself to do this.

I’ve seen the screen filter of VTEC solenoids with lots of debris/dirt. If the oil and filter are regularly changed every 5000 miles, what else could causing the dirt/debris?
great video
Eric the one and only barbon it means big bear or something like that any way you good Mechanic technician

If you get an engine code should I replace the solonoid also??
2:37 what is purpose of this bar that you removed?
Same leak on the k20 engine from a Honda stream RN3
Great video…. thanks , excellent camera angle
Very helpful! Luckily my 03' only had three bolts. Time will tell if that along with my valve cover was the sources of my leaks
Eric nice job nice angles with the camera I have a quick question I have a 2006 Honda element with a K 24 as well I’m getting code P2646 which is rocker arm assembly stuck open bank 1 the symptoms are bad oil low oil pressure, or bad assembly altogether I changed everything that you just changed including the entire assembly with OEM Honda parts the code keeps coming back not sure how to fix it could you tell me what this could mean or point me in the right direction possibly? Much appreciated
I have oil leaking out the bottom passenger rear side of my Honda Accord 2005 2.4 do you think it’s the vtec?
You said "no rtv"", why? I was gonna add rtv to mine as a precaution. Do you choose not to use it, or can it cause damage?
