I’ve been asked about doing a video on this process since my first Honda valve adjustment videos came out almost 2 years ago. I was happy when this 2004 Acura TL 6 speed came in not just because it allowed me the opportunity to make this video but also because I think these cars are a lot of fun to drive. This is truly a step by step account of the valve adjustment procedure for the J Series engine. Remember it takes time to get the ‘feel’ for valve adjustments and it’s better to go too loose than too tight.

In the first frame I felt nostalgic! Very good and inspiring time. I became an automotive mechanic because of these ETCG videos. Thx.

I miss these type of videos on this channel. I actually went from working as a machinist to a automotive tech – thanks to Eric 4runner maintenance videos couple years ago lol
Love this guy 💪ðŸÂ½

Wow, never seen you without a beard. ðŸ‘ÂÂðŸÂ»ðŸ‘ÂÂðŸÂ»
Clearly superior to my J series.
just had valve adjust, spark plugs, timing belt, water pump, & port and polished lower intake runners done on my 04 TL. Had this video dropped 3 weeks ago I would have done the work myself……… 😮â€ÂÂ💨
Semi-related: I installed a 200 ohm rheostat on the positive lead to the engine coolant sensor on my 2005 Odyssey, and it runs so much better. The dial to the rheostat is mounted in an empty slot on my dash and can be dialed to 0 resistance.
Another reason to write nasty letters to Engineers on why they need to redesign their cars to be more work friendly…because I know there is a Japanese engineer laughing every time I have to work on my car
"Make sure you get down in there just right" that's what she said 😅
2010 Eric!
Repost of an old video……but why?
Thank you for uploading this video miss watching your videos watching from South Africa
Now that you have another shop do you regret giving a lot of your tools away?
Love the way he uses hand tools instead of impacts ðŸ‘ÂÂ
Was super confused when I saw the baby face. Walked away with knowledge. Emotions are running high.
Wow, Eric you look so different from now
This video came at the perfect time for me! ‘05 Accord having some serious misfire issues and valve clearance check has never been done. I really appreciate this. Thanks!
Your the man eric
Flashback
I got a 2006. Thanks for this video! I have been thinking about doing this because she's been clattering a bit. I heard that's normal for these engines is that true?
Honda J series engines are masterpieces of percision engineering to rhe point where the components fail at the same time like my 2015 odyssey and accord both with fhe j35 and both needed timing belt done at the same time 86k miles cuz the belt tensioner started to fail on both of them.
Good job erick you had that one hiding nice job pain in the but ðŸ‘ÂÂNissan cars i thing
Looking so much better without the beard!
GOAT era of ETCG
thanks Eric!
No school like the old school!
Makes you look 10 years younger without the beard 😂
