To be honest I wasn’t that happy with the performance of this borescope. I was hoping for more. When in open dark areas such as inside a cylinder the camera just didn’t work. This tool had a lot of promise but in the time I used it I felt it fell short of the mark. I’m sending it back and hoping to try another tool that I hope will work better.

The image being transmitted to the display definitely isn't via wifi or any other digital signal, it's cheap as cheap RF, hence the fuzziness.
What a piece of junk.
send me this for christmas! thanks Eric!
Down the intake (via a vacuum line- so as not to rev by moving throttle plate) while running would be cool- to see the air/fuel charge streaming by as in various car commercials.
Give @Tinkernut a ring. He could probably make you one of those for really cheap with a great light, HD camera, MicroSD storage, USB hookup in a project box with an Arduino. Something to consider.
Try this one from HF the right ups seem to be good.ÂÂÂ

I have an older Ridgid brand one that has better video quality, but you cant record and the camera is way bigger and wont fit into a spark plug hole. The General tool website does say they have a close focus and a far focus camera, so maybe the far one might work better for your application.
also it'll save money on a doctors visit if you need a colonoscopyÂÂÂ
Would be better if you recorded the video using the borescope, then editing it into the video:)
u disrespeck chinese famiry.
Eric… at the end of the video you looked like a kid on Christmas morning that didn't get what you wanted for Christmas, lol
After seeing this review, I bought the $79 Ridgid  Micro CA25 and am really pleased with it.  Doesnt have the SD card or wireless but I didnt need it.  Thought about one of the $25 Amazon or ebay ones but needed something NOW (had suspected leaking injector) and wanted to be able to return it if it sucked.  I'm keeping it.  http://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-Micro-CA25-Inspection-Camera-40043/203258908
The cheap ones are really not good for anything. I got one from dealxtreme for like $20. It has to be hooked up to a laptop and it's not much worse than the one you tested here. And it has the same exact problem: in the dark you can't seen anything until you are very close up. I think it's a problem with the light not necessarily the camera. Anyway IMO the cheap ones are all next to useless. Thanks for the review!
they could have used such a better camera and screen. it amazes me how much they sell it for for video quality that a cellphone could take a decade a go. I mean seriously a good camera of that size costs like 10 dollars at most a small screen would cost similar also. or make it connect to a iPhone through Bluetooth or wifi.
I have seen better and dont think this tool would work out for a Tech looking around in a engine the video was just not clear but like all thing it would come down to cost of the tool and what you are going to use it for.
I was wondering if there could be any firmware updates for the tool that would improve the image processing. I did a quick search and that doesn't seem to be the case.
i love the honesty eric. thanks for the video!
$329.99? I was thinking maybe $99 tops.
Stop advertising for jbtoolsales. I made three orders with them and one arrived with items missing and one didn`t even turn up at all.
great
I have a Whistler that has the same capabilities and better quality, I recommend that if you want to try another borescope. "Whistler Wireless Waterproof Inspection Camera with 3.5" Detachable Monitor" Plus it is less expensive, good as a snap on and better than harbor freights cen tech. Plus it is oil, water and gas/diesel proof.
Just think , that surgeons use cameras to do operations ,ÂÂÂ
I was expecting higher quality pictures. Kind of disappointed.ÂÂÂ
always thought I'd like a scope in the tool set, but not that one.
If you need this buy a 2M Waterproof 6 LED USB Inspection Tube Camera Endoscope Bore-scope Tube Camera from ebay. I bought one for $8 and uses it with an old laptop. Works just as good as what he has..
Do It Yourself Colonoscopy!
