Why manufacturers don’t use a metal piece here is beyond me…😑
Seen this problem quite a few times. I keep a back up one in the glove compartment.
We found a pack of 10 stoppers online for a couple bucks for our Hyundai after the clutch stopper wore out and then the bolt we replaced it with ruined the plastic switch.
Went ahead & replaced the stopper on the brake pedal at the same time, and the brake pedal stopper on our Kia of similar age.
I totally would’ve tried the body clip if I’d thought of it.
The genuine stopper has a concave divet that seems like it’s meant to receive the switch plunger and prevent it from wearing out (like our metal bolt caused).
The body clip is convex, I wonder if that puts unusual strain on the switch plunger mechanism.
I’m curious which holds up better over time – a genuine stopper or the body clip.
Either way, better to put in something soft enough (nylon or plastic) than have repeatedly dead batteries!
