The guys take the 1981 Fox Body Cobra Mustang, Sydewinder, and give it a complete makeover with no shortage of performance parts. The Cobra gets a massive suspension overhaul and upgrades, along with a stronger rear end to handle big power. Then it gets an aggressive exhaust system along with new fuel and cooling systems. Project Sydewinder gets some custom paint and graphics with a rustic looking patina plus its engine bay buttoned up and a whole new interior.

The Mustang needs some reinforcement, so the guys beef up the body and frame on a k-member car and keep it from twisting like a pretzel from big horsepower. To wrap it all up, they head to the track and see how it handles.

  1. Why go thru all that trouble just2 install another medieval, carbureted engine, steam gauges &mecha switches?

Why not install a modern V8 or other, complete w/FI, EPS rack, electric HVAC, DCI, VVT, antilock, air bags, digital dash, touch screen, etc? I like the paint idea, the frame trusses, the roll cage, flooring over the rear seat delete but the exhaust is putrid, ugly even.

Why waste the labor, the time &the parts?

  2. I actually really like the paint job,,not digging the cobra on the hood, maybe if it didnt have the wings and just the cobra.but I like the black and orange patina look.

  3. So lemme get this straight… you wanted your engine bay to look cleaner… after having cleaned and painted it nicely. So you drilled about 100 holes in it, put cover panels that will hold water behind them… where all the drill shaving are, and secured them with rivets stacking up 4 disimilar metals. Never heard of galvanic corrosion?

  4. Bro I watched this year's ago when I only liked 87-93 fox bodies and now that I'm building my 82 T-top it hurts to watch them get rid of some of the most expensive parts. The original recaro net seats and the marchal fog lights really hurt.

  5. People like what they like, and what they dislike. I dislike the “distressed” look. If you don’t want to do a full decent body and paint job, just wrap it. Everything else is spectacular. I wanted to do full suspension on my 85 foxbody, but I had to sell it due to divorce.

  6. Only these guys could take a car that looked like it's been sitting in a junkyard for 20 years and turn it into a car that doesn't look like it's been sitting in a junk yard for 20 years.

  7. i love the foxbody, its my favorite car of all time, 2nd is the javelin lol. my older brother had 2 foxes growing up! one was the 5.0 all black and the other was a 4 cyclinder for his daily driver. ive always wanted one but idk when or if ill ever get one

  8. People that like Patena finishes are kinda like bigfoots. There aren’t very many of them. What that means is: when you go to sell it good luck finding someone which also means expect a much lower price.
