Full Build: 1978 Jeep DJ5 Goes From Hauling Mail to Hitting the Trails – Car Mod Pros Portal

It’s hard to make a DJ5 Mail Jeep cooler than it already is, but Carcass managed to do just that and build an off-road monster that delivers on its mission of conquering any terrain and keeping its character in the process. The guys sought a unique right-hand drive project that could maintain its allure no matter the project’s direction while providing the off-road performance few vehicles can match on the trails. They did this by stripping down the retired mail Jeep and starting from scratch.

  1. You can test the transitor to see if it failed. A faulty door swith or bad ground creating repeated switching of the circuit will make a transistor fail. I had a circuit on a pinball machine kill the transistors due to dirty optical switches.

  2. A friend sent me your video Because I also have 3 post jeeps right hand drive I love them Mine does have a 4 cylinder. 151 2.5 l iron Duke. It would be better if it had a 6 cylinder. I enjoyed your video, thanks.

  3. I don’t get it I’ve seen you guys work on many cars many trucks and everything else. Are these customers cars do they go to auction? What do you guys do with all the finished project? Where do they end up?

  4. Love the project. A friend of mine had one of these DJ jeeps, but it was left hand drive. It was an Airforce MP security patrol vehicle from our local air base. Had tons of fun in the woods and fields.
Ps. You guys need to tighten your hardware a little more. Don't be afraid to crank on it a little, especially when using a short wrench.

  5. Redid my 5.4l, 3valve. Need a tune; really bad!!! S&B intake with exhaust cutout. Engine runs better; with the cutout closed. Have 37" tires…so; need to turn big tires.
Getting 10.5 mpg. Shifting points are not right. A lot of torque. No high rev. Excitement!
    Would a tuner work???

  6. The front differential cover you got from Summer racing doesn’t have the channel around the ringer area, so it will Throw oil forward properly. You need to Gail Banks cover that does have the proper shape to it to have proper oiling.

  7. If I had all those tens of thousand$$ to spend on brand new parts and engines they just bolt on, and have full access to shop with all the latest tools, lifts, painting booths, 2 axis plasma cutter, man, I would be building some cool shit too. This is just so unrealistic for what an every day Joe can do in his garage with limited funds. I would love to see a full price list on all this crap and a total price. Im betting this little "post office jeep" cost like $50K, lol.

  8. You modified that green Jeep completely, hardly anything original left, even not the color :). For historic purposes it would have been much better if you would have used the yellow Jeep as your base and then left the green one for someone who wanted to do a more respectful restoration. Sorry, I own an old TJ and I'm pretty disappointed by this project.
