I recently purchased 2 Honda Elements. One of those Elements is going to my brother. I wanted to fix it up before I gave it to him and in this video I cover that work.

In this video I replace the rear bumper, exhaust system, serpentine belt, spark plugs, O2 sensors, roof rack(s), brake fluid, clutch fluid, manual transmission fluid, rear differential fluid, cabin air filters, engine air filter, pressure test the cooling system, battery test, battery hold down repair, and I add some rust protection to help prevent further corrosion.

There’s a lot packed into this episode. Be sure to watch the entire thing.

Thanks for watching!

  1. Eric, my 2003 Honda Element has check engine light in for TPS the car was driving fine and then I let it sit overnight and now my shifter won’t come out of park. What does this mean? Help Me please!! Just waiting for the part to be delivered and now I can’t even move the thing.

  2. grade 8 does not apply to metric bolts. their grade system is different: 10.9, 8.9, something like that. No need for anything special on the bumper though. SS is a great call

  3. Wow ~ I take it someone ran through salt and snow and never bothered to go to the undercarriage car wash; you really brought this car back to life

  4. Eric, while you were jumping starting, and testing, and charging, AND testing the battery..

I was screaming: "CLEAN THE TERMINALS! THE TERMINALS!"

I've learned from your other videos and experience that if you don't have good and clean metal to metal connection on your battery, none of those things quite work like they should.

  5. I use corroseal on my rust areas. Did a few small rear frame spots before they have a chance to get worse. Suppose to convert the rust to inert

  6. 🙋🏽‍♂️Nice guy Car guy📢

  7. cv boot is torn on my new beetle, i just shove a needle in it and just pump at away at the grease gun every once in a blue moon. i remember reading a write up from shop techs at a race track when servicing their daily drivers. one guy just kept lubing his torn boots to see what would happen.

  8. holy crap gear oil! man i'd be changing my trans oil a second time shortly after just to flush it but, that's me EDIT: im an idiot it's an MT not a AT. i forget there were still a few MTs sold in the later mid 2000s

  9. Eric, as icing on the cake you should put a 10mm wrench in the rear door along with that emergency oil supply. It's your brother after all 🙂

  10. Good to know that gear oil is bad for honda manual trannies. In the philippines we only use mineral oils for 93-00 trannies.. we haven't damaged or fixed any honda MT

  11. I just learned more with this video then my 4 years of high school 😅 thank you so much.
