I recently purchased 2 Honda Elements. One of those Elements is going to my brother. I wanted to fix it up before I gave it to him and in this video I cover that work.
In this video I replace the rear bumper, exhaust system, serpentine belt, spark plugs, O2 sensors, roof rack(s), brake fluid, clutch fluid, manual transmission fluid, rear differential fluid, cabin air filters, engine air filter, pressure test the cooling system, battery test, battery hold down repair, and I add some rust protection to help prevent further corrosion.
There’s a lot packed into this episode. Be sure to watch the entire thing.
Thanks for watching!

Eric, my 2003 Honda Element has check engine light in for TPS the car was driving fine and then I let it sit overnight and now my shifter won’t come out of park. What does this mean? Help Me please!! Just waiting for the part to be delivered and now I can’t even move the thing.
All that rust just makes me appreciate both of my Elements even more. No rust on them.
grade 8 does not apply to metric bolts. their grade system is different: 10.9, 8.9, something like that. No need for anything special on the bumper though. SS is a great call
Wow ~ I take it someone ran through salt and snow and never bothered to go to the undercarriage car wash; you really brought this car back to life
Eric, while you were jumping starting, and testing, and charging, AND testing the battery..
I was screaming: "CLEAN THE TERMINALS! THE TERMINALS!"
I've learned from your other videos and experience that if you don't have good and clean metal to metal connection on your battery, none of those things quite work like they should.
Hey look I’m a catalytic converter thief classic 😂
is the rear differential supposed to be able to move that far? 11:30
Please tell me more about your red pressurized cleaner canister.
YOU SHOULD GET THOSE MILWAKEE LED LIGHT 2360-20.THOSE LIGHTS HAS 2 STRONG MAGNET ON IT.
Took a bike rack off of my old Subaru, gained about 5 mpg.
Rust? Where?
-A Michigan Guy
Was it driven into the ocean? Amazon carries CRES flange nuts in Metric.
FLUID FILM!!!!!!!!!!!!
FLUID FILM!!!!!
They tricked you into acting like suicide victims. How did that happen?
It looks embarrassing for you.
Burny Burny, exhausts are hot eric dont touch them lol
Good stuff Eric!
Oh sweet more elements Awesomeness 👌 @EricTheCarGuy
Defenitly interested in what your going to do to your brother's element bro @EricTheCarGuy
Nice coolant hand pump @EricTheCarGuy
Looks like the gearwrench sockets did pretty well on then half gone nuts @EricTheCarGuy
Yeah m8 by 1.25 not very easy to find @EricTheCarGuy
New exhaust system is Super Nice @EricTheCarGuy
I use corroseal on my rust areas. Did a few small rear frame spots before they have a chance to get worse. Suppose to convert the rust to inert
🙋ðŸÂ½â€ÂÂ♂ï¸ÂÂNice guy Car guy📢
Always enjoy your channel Eric!
No stainless steel tip?
You need to have a talk with your brother🙄
those element / cr-v batteries are too small, i'll modify my tray and literally JAM in a bigger battery.
cv boot is torn on my new beetle, i just shove a needle in it and just pump at away at the grease gun every once in a blue moon. i remember reading a write up from shop techs at a race track when servicing their daily drivers. one guy just kept lubing his torn boots to see what would happen.
holy crap gear oil! man i'd be changing my trans oil a second time shortly after just to flush it but, that's me EDIT: im an idiot it's an MT not a AT. i forget there were still a few MTs sold in the later mid 2000s
What year are those Hondas and what's up with all that bumper rust??? Is that normal or expected on this age Honda?
6000 miles!? G.D. you're confident in that oil
Northeastern exhaust is pretty cheap and the quality is good
Ahh…the Pontiac Aztek of Honda's,
Eric, as icing on the cake you should put a 10mm wrench in the rear door along with that emergency oil supply. It's your brother after all 🙂
And this years "Best Brother of the Year" award goes to… ðŸ˜ÂÂ
Love this video! Motivates me to go through my E and give it a good ETCG treatment
What a blessing to have Eric as a teacher!
Good to know that gear oil is bad for honda manual trannies. In the philippines we only use mineral oils for 93-00 trannies.. we haven't damaged or fixed any honda MT
I did similar nut removal at 24:27 but all my bolts broke off. So now I guess I need to tap them and weld them onto the body right?
Hey car guy u r good Ese high five or two tambs up we say hi from East L.A
I just learned more with this video then my 4 years of high school 😅 thank you so much.
How's the subframe on that beast?
