I’ve installed not one, but 2 exhaust cut outs on my #FairmontProject. The first cut out didn’t work out as well as I’d hoped. The second cut out, which I install in this video, worked out much better.

I will be making a video about the wiring and switch installation at a later date. Like I said in the video though, it’s really not difficult. All you need is power, ground, and a place to mount the switch. The rest is covered in this video.

  1. quick question for the smart folks in the comments. Would an exhaust cutout work on a newer vehicle (2017) as long as its placed after the o2 sensor? Or would it throw some other codes, or have an issue?

  2. Factory truck engine tec
Most engine manufacturers have gotten away from soldering wire connections because the flux leaves a corrosive residual that causes a voltage drop later after time
I have quick time and no leaks after about a year

  3. Young people do not seem to " get it " .when it comes to muscle cars . Just because you have a vehicle that is 40 or 50 years old does NOT make it a classic or anything more than what is was when it carried your grandparents around town. A Fairmont !? How embarrassing. A grandma's car is always a grandma's car. If you want to build a nice old car….. search for something worthy of all of your work and money. No matter what you may believe…… there are still Chevelles , T buckets , Gran Torinos , bitchen old trucks , Novas , and Challengers , hiding in old barns , in fields and in the possession of someone's Mom and Dad . I have been building cars since 1976 and just yesterday I found a 66 Chevelle SS convertible sitting in someone's garage .!Do it ….. but find something deserving of your style and ability.

  4. Wonder if i could put one on my stock tacoma…🤔😏

  5. Whenever I watch a good video and it has received dislikes… I like to imagine that the likes and dislikes are people split into two football teams. So, the score here today is 24,000 to 931. 🤣

🤔 This has a very 2020 season Super Bowl feel to it. 😆

  6. Your Muffler shop guy is right the Doug Thory guillotine style units work the best…..The Butterfly units with time leak….[Mine Did] Had a car in the other day….Yep they were leaking……Soooooo It's been 26 mouths since you installed the last ones…….Are they leaking now? Anytime something gets hit…..

  7. Is this exhaust valve still working well? I had a motorised one and it died within 1 year. The gears failed. Prior to that, it got really squeaky from all the exhaust deposits, so was embarassing to operate on a classy sports sedan. I've since been running a vacuum operated one for 4 years. The only problem is the rattle when closed. Which is most of the time.

  8. Anybody else get nervous when he starts stripping the shielding with that dull razor knife? Or have I just cut myself too many times doing it…

  9. This is proof my phone is listening to me. I mentioned to my brother that i was planning to mod my car to do this. Look what i find in my recommendations.

  10. Say Eric ,,the heat shrink ,with the writing on the outside ,,,has the glue in it..? But I've always liked the idea of exhaust cut outs…cheers..
