The Duramax diesel engines can be found in everything from the GMC Sierra to the Chevy Silverado because they’re powerful and reliable. The 6.6-liter turbocharged V8 powerhouse can put out 445 horsepower and 910 lb.-ft. of torque. With the latest upgrades, there’s a 19% increase in torque for better towing, according to The Drive.
Duramax has a reason to be proud. They are celebrating the 2 millionth production of that engine. It started back in 2000 and they’ve cranked out 2 million ever since. The engines have been tweaked and tuned over the years to improve performance and keep up with the times. In 2014 $60 million was invested towards emissions improvements and a year later $82 million was put into plant production. But whatever Duramax is doing, it’s doing it right because, well, 2 million is a lot of engines!
