My mother-in-law got a 2023 Honda Civic Sport recently. She needed to use our van so we traded vehicles for a couple of days. I decided to take it for a drive around the neighborhood and here are my thoughts.

I need to start taking it easy on my 07 accord.. can afford to be buying a 30k car with ridiculous interest rates.
Stay dirty but not in the mother-in-laws car 😂
Is that the Honda Turbo engine with oil dilution issues? Honda came a long way but in so many ways they have gone backwards especially when it comes reliability. They used to be indestructible back in the late 80s and 90s but nowadays they are disposable after a decade.
I totaled my 2017 Honda Fit in September and looked at a new civic lx manual and was shocked to find that as base a civic as you can get was $30,000. Considering that the Fit is no longer being sold in the U.S., it makes it hard for someone who can’t afford a $30,000 car to find something economical and fun to drive without killing themselves to make the car payment. And used cars aren’t that much cheaper and the interest rates are stupid.
Did u say torque in a 2.0l? Those are gutless. You should drive a 1.5t
There’s a few of these at the sport luxury dealership I work at and god they are a bore to drive. That “scrappyâ€ÂÂness of the old ones made them fun and youthful. We had a 2017 Type R though and that was a lot of fun to drive. The Si is fun too in a way more subtle way.
The US needs scrappy econoboxes.
Not $24k Civics
Except for you know, the oil dilution problem that Honda refuses to fix. So have fun changing oil every 2000miles.
Or you can get the 2.0L, but without a turbo you'll be slowest car on the road..
Except for that steering rack recall I'm happy with my 24
I said back around 2012 that the Hyundais/kia of the time were more akin to the Hondas ehen they gained their reputation, than the new Hondas are. Cheap, good on gas, easy to fix, decent reliability if you take care of them.
There's nothing like the firm-but-spongy feel of new suspension lol
First Honda were clown cars with their round rear window. I had one slam into the rear of my Dodge Dart. Totaled the Honda and bent the trim on my Dart. I was not one of the seven dwarfs. Yes I was not Happy and neither was the Honda driver.
Much bigger. More space than my 94 accord.
Today’s Civic is way bigger, heavier, and more luxurious than the Accord 40 years ago.
The new design is so bleh 😢 I was at a truck stop in my 2018 and a 2022 drove up and four guys got out and liked the older design over the brand new one they rolled up in 😅
