Dissecting an Engine, The Basic Parts and Their Function – EricTheCarGuy

Home

I’ve had more than one request for this and since I had a few hours while sitting on my butt waiting for my Dodge engine to show up I thought I would fill the time by making this video for you. I have to say that after the first edit I wasn’t too happy and went back and reshot not once but twice and even then I still felt I didn’t cover it the way I liked. I should really start scripting these videos, it would make my life soo much easier. Anyway don’t be too rough on me if you have differing opinions as I’m willing to accept them in the comments if you are nice about it but if your going to tear me a new one then please make a video of your own explaining why as at least then we will be on the same playing field.

  1. I've been interested in the mechanics of an engine for over a decade, and I've been asking questions all this time, trying to learn. These are the fundamental answers I needed. Thanks man.

  2. Hyundai Santa Fe black smoke problem?(2019 model 2.0 liter diesel engine, piezo type fuel injector)
    Symptoms:
Black smokes coming only ideal and low speed engine movie under 2000 RPM only

above 2000 Rpm engine high speed black smoke not coming what is the problem

Checking and cleaning part and service:

Turbo charger is service now ingood condition

diesel injector is in good condition checking service centre

EGR system is fully cleaned and working properly

Then what is the problem in one to help me to rectify ??????

  3. I thought this was very helpful…but…please have more lighting can't see ..but also those digital diagrams helped to make up for your physical display thanks again

  4. bruh this has to be one of the greatest video’s i’ve seen this shit helps a ton

  5. can you please clear up the confusion about "synthetic" oil , in that to be synthetic it must say 100% synthetic, "full" synthetic is not synthetic, but rather dinosaur oil with synthetic additive package. Do I have that right ? people pay a lot more at oil change time & may not be getting what they think they are.

  6. I'm soooo glad I found you! I just got a new job at a shop, and have NO car knowledge at all! The garage owners knew that, but wanted me anyway. Well I thought I would just be answering phones, doing paperwork, etc… Well….THEY EVENTUALLY WANT ME TO BE ONE OF 2 SERVICE WRITERS!! The guys come to me to order parts, and I look like an idiot! (I should have paid attention to my husband when he was talking endlessly about cars 😰)
Please help and keep taking us to school! 🤘

  7. I am trying to teach my grandson about engines and I told him it is easy to explain because I can visualize what I am talking about but he can’t visualize what I am saying. I found this vid and he pick up on the concepts immediately

  8. If some camshafts are good for power and some for fuel economy, can I change my camshaft to get better mileage/power?

  9. Really enjoyed this man. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Interesting to think that after all this time there would be a more efficient means of transferring energy. Losing 2/3rds of the original energy to heat with no way to capture really makes me scratch my head about how much gasoline has been exchanged for the fraction of it's potential. Thanks for the fact Jack.

  10. 28:03 "think of crankshaft like a pedal on bicycle"
that actually funny analogy, i imagined an inline 4 flatplane engine as people with four leg cycling a bike with two crank arms

  11. He is one in a million, best among many, most trusted , I almost gave up on trading then I met him through a friend, Austin is the most trusted trading expert who helped the life of my family and I ,

  12. If there's only one exhaust manifold on an engine, how is it connected to the 4 cylinders opposite to it?

  13. Wow I wish u were my chemistry teacher or something this is the most I’ve payed attention in years lol

  14. Thank you for this video. My daddy is the best mechanic in the world and he was going to teach me all this. We were gonna build a motor together but COVID got him and took him from me . I ONLY MISS HIM WHEN IM BREATHING. R.I.P. DADDY THOMAS EUGENE CHURCH. BUT THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO. I APPRECIATE YOU AND IM PROID OF YOU YOUR AWESOME

  15. I love the virtual engine breakdowns since they can show slices of the engine but seeing the physical parts together adds so much to my comprehension of how an engine works.
