  1. I notice they never check the spacing between the torque converter and flywheel to ensure a save position of the torque converter neck and transmission pump. You don't want the torque converter shoved all the way to the pump. You want a little spacing to allow for expansion from heat, but too much spacing can cause unwanted wear on the tabs the neck of the torque convertor locks onto as well as odd wear on the pump drive. I typically go for about 1/8th spacing between the torque convertor and the pump. So if the spacing between the torque converter and the flywheel is 1/4, I'll put in 1/8th spacers to ensure proper spacing at the pump.

  2. So the “stall point” is when the engine rpm becomes insufficient enough to spin the impeller fast enough to spin the turbine ei. 1500 stall means that below 1500 rpm the brakes hold the turbine back enough that it sits idle but above 1500 rpm the impeller engages creating pressure to spin the turbine thus engaging the transmission. Yes?

  3. Thank you SOOOO MUCH for the torque converter demonstration! Call me a simpleton but I never really understood how a converter worked but that just clicked with me along with the video so again, THANK YOU!

  4. i have a chevy 1989 1500 do you think can helping to do something like that? its all original i would like to have it nice and perfect but sometimes money does not help out your dreams much i had this truck since high school graduation…. thanks!

  5. What book was that for the transmission build and who rebuilt this 4l60e? Dont recall hearing anything mentioned about the company that provided the upgrade. Also, the link isn't provided for the book nor the transmission companies link? Thanks.

  6. A trick I used to do in the 70's (teenager needing to cruise ; ) in replacing a transmission was to straddle the car over the front yard drainage ditch… you could easily get under it then : )
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS THO TODAY, lol

  7. That early model with the bottom open is nice as long as you dont break the bell housing and damn you can use an impact on that heat shield shit thats way more room than my 04 silverado or 03 suburban

  8. My one complaint to this build.. should have done a true dual exhaust.. meaning 2 sets of pipes ran, 2 sets of mufflers. That motor is still hampered due to being singled into 1 muffler

  9. Did make a mistake, run the torque converter bolts up and tighten them up.This is a no no,can break the front pump and damage the flex plate. Before bolting the torque converter, pry it up with a screwdriver first and then bolt it up.Rebuilt transmissions, never use the old torque converter over again.Does not know how to use a clicker style torque wrench right, stop when it clicks!Jerking on it gives a false torque reading.

  10. when you install the flexplate bolts one of the holes is going to be an oval-shaped while the other two are full circular-shaped so you install the oval shaped bolt first the other two will line up. Itss oval shaped to be tight against the major diameter of the threads on the flexplate bolts.
