Burt Reynolds, who is known and loved for his iconic “Smokey and the Bandit” character, died Thursday at the age of 82, according to his agent Todd Eisner.

PowerNation shop, Detroit Muscle, was lucky enough to catch up with Reynolds a few years ago. The guys met up with Year One president, Kevin King, who is very familiar with the Trans Am as Year One is in the business of hard to find classic parts and restoring iconic muscle cars. The Bandit Trans Am happened to be one of their latest creations at the time.

And to make it even cooler, Burt Reynolds signed on as a consultant. Reynolds said the car was a “flood of memories” and explained his and Jerry Reed’s first reactions to the original car. Burt was definitely an icon in both the movie and automotive industry and he will be both remembered and missed.
