It’s a first for HorsePower – putting together a four-banger, high-performance engine dedicated to oval, dirt track competition. It’s amazing how much power you can pack into a small race engine designed especially for dirt tracks.

its pronounced ligh muh, not leemuh lol, crazy stuff, built in my little hometown, awesome stuff here tho
This thing made better power per liter than an AP2 S2000. With a 2-valve head. Esslinger has earned my respect!
The way he trimmed that piece to go into the intake was way too cool. 😎🔥
after listening to 8 back to back pulls I wish that thing would jump a tooth
K24 Honda with over 300 HP is way more fun, but the Lima 4 is cool for old tech.
How much would an engine like this cost? I have a 2.3l in my 03’ ford ranger. Would like to get a bit stronger of an engine!! ( daily driver )
“Run it again.”
Not gonna lie. I just found this video 4 yes later. I'm a big Ranger guy. Know them inside and out. I need one of these engine builds. I would like to build a track day Ranger with one. I'm from AL so running this around Barbers in a Ranger would be a thrill for myself and fans alike.
Rip Joe
We want a 2 turbo fuel injector
Suicide Pinto 👶🚬⛽
268 4 CYLINDER NATURALLY ASPIRATED THAT IS STUPID
👶🚬⛽
How much horse power did this engine make? Certainly not over 1000 as seemingly indicated by the displayed figures. Why no horse power figures?
what kind of distributor do you use ? can you learn the model ? thank you so much
I guess this will help me with playing my summer car
I saw those spark plug wires did not good. I think cylinder 4 was pulling power from three
Whats the cost to build a 2.3. Like to have one in a dune buggy
Did he say " Racing Started in the US " ???? The reason you might look overseas for racing parts for that motor is it's originally a English engine , it was first used in Cortinas , Escorts, Granadas , Transit Trucks , in England there is a Twin Cam 16 valve Cosworth Headed version sold in Cortina Cosworth and Escort Cosworth . It runs twin side draught 45 mm Weber carbies . But yeah good job of making the standard single cam go .
I would love to see what He could do with my 96 4.0.
If there was a Problem yo they’ll solve it 😊
RIP
There he is!! You are missed Joe. Hope your spinning wrenches up there in Heaven. Tell Jessi we miss her too!! I watched you for so many years on Sunday.
is this the same as the English 2l Pinto motor?
Rip jon elmore we all miss you
wheres the EFI turbo
And no turbo !
I bought parts from them back in the mind 80s from our local Speed shop for my 2.3. Good people.
"I have a 2.3 engine for 30,000 that makes 260+ hp"……….
For the average person you're far better of with a turbo.
Unless you really want to spend that kind of money, and spend 150+/oil change every 200 miles, and replace your spark plugs and check valve lash every oil change.
Cool parts!………..in your garage.
timing belt cover anywhere?
THIS ENGINE WITH A SC WOULD BE BAT S !!!
as a ford ranger 2.3 owner that does too much to cars, esslinger racing and stinger perfornance are my bibles.
IT'S LIME AHHH thats how its pronounced, not Leema. Say it with me, LIME AAHHHH, LIME AAHHH.
while this is an awesome build, if youre gonna go to the trouble of casting a new head, why not go for a DOHC 4 valve design?
I remember growing up doing Enduro class….u couldn't beat the 2.3s
I just looked them up ten thousand dollar engine.. That's a lot of Money for the motor I understand it's all custom, but what about the enthusiast?I just would like to build oh nobody.Wants to spend ten thousand dollars on a four cylinder…
I love these engines. I want to cam mine sooo bad lol. I want it to shop at idle
Wish Dan Esslinger still owned this company….
Love how they are miss pronouncing Lima
Donde puedo comprar ese múltiple de admisión?
Looks like my old Pinto motor
With good 2.3 head cores getting scarce, Esslinger should again start producing their aluminum D-port head. They could recoup the costs pretty quickly.
if thats an issue dan, a
l of those manifolds should come with those baffles
Why can nobody pronounce "Lima" correctly?
Can this fit in a ford ranger
