In this video we learn the basics of battery testing in both my shop, and at AutoZone. The people at AutoZone are very helpful, especially Kelly. In fact, I was able to get her and Gale together to show what’s involved with checking your battery.
Remember extreme temperatures effect your batteries operation. So if it’s about to get really hot, or really cold, you might want to have your battery checked before hand so that it doesn’t leave you stranded.

I was thinking about buying one of the analog load testers but somewhere I read that you need to remove the negative terminal to do the test, which would be a deal killer for me. It's hard to see but it looks like Eric left both terminals connected to the battery when he did the test. So you don't have to remove any terminals?
great video
for the little bitches down below, guys I am one of the people that doesn't live in the US so I don't give a fuck if it's an AutoZone or Ozone. Can't you just benifit from the video and STFU about it.
Every AutoZone I've ever visited was filled with pimpled faced kids driving 17yr old Hondas, because..you know…vtec….those kids don't know anything other than changing oil. I now go to the parts distributors independent auto shops get their stuff from and it's definitely not AutoZone, Napa, Strauss (Still in business??) etc.
How dare she not trust Eric the car guy!
This sponsorship debate shouldn't have begun. I bet anyone with a tech channel would love amd or Intel to sponsor them and help make videos. NASCAR stock cars are sponsored and no one gripes that bud light or even a doge coin is on the hood of a car. Do like Eric said and just don't watch the video if you hate sponsored content.
to all you hater out there if eric didnt have sponsors we would have no vidos to watch and that would be a great shame he has worked hard to make videos for us so let's show support for what he does
as an Autozone employee. where the hell is her goggles Apron and Gloves? PPE! SAFETY FIRST! and it's understandable about the Autozone hate. even I try to stay away from certain ones because of the idjits that work there.
I visited just to give this a thumbs up after all the people bitching about it. You rock, Eric.
Awesome video Eric! It's great you can get sponsors to help with things like the FAIRMONT PROJECT!
I use Autozone out of convenience and I keep coming back because of reliability of parts. The two unrealistic areas about this Autozone video, Kelly was too helpful and she wasn't on her cell phone.
Excellent video!! Glad to see that your reputation has gotten strong enough for Autozone to even choose to have you do a video for them! 🙂
These commenters are so butt hurt
love auto zone because they support Eric the car guy .)
I like to take the vehicle and have it checked before taking long trips anywhere. I had to take a trip to Michigan in a hurry due to my uncle who was in the hospital, and I didn't have time to check my vehicle thoroughly and since it was Winter, I had to choose the vehicle which I thought would get me there and back, and ended up driving my Ford Explorer 4×4 which was perfect for the weather which was bad from Arkansas to Michigan and back. It did perform as expected and got me there and back safely, and it stood up to the cold weather which was worst in Missouri.
i really can not believe the hate towards eric and for the recent videos.
Thanks for a great video Eric, awesome.
Not testing the CCA?
Eric I say this with love and as constructive criticism. This skit is bad. Just be the person we come here to see. I don't care how you raise revenue to keep the videos coming, but this made me uncomfortable.
she forgot to read the battery temp and offer to test the starter and alternator.
Who is she? The acting is so bad!!!!!
What if I developed an overwhelming feeling to purge money on autoparts after watching this video? Do I make an appointment with Autozone to get a prescription for parts and more Brakleen?!
Why even buy the load tester?? Seems completely unnecessary. Take that DMM tool and monitor the voltage drop when you start the engine. 9.6V or higher is the sweet spot.
at least it's not oreillys….. napa know how all the way
