As of this month, all newly manufactured vehicles sold in the U.S. are required to have backup cameras as a standard feature.

The Department of Transportation reports that more than 200 people are killed and over 12,000 more are injured each year due to “back over” crashes. Of those killed, over half are children younger than 5 or adults over 70. Rearview cameras have already been found to reduce backup-related crashes by 17 percent, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Do you think this will help or should people just pay attention?

  1. For people who have neck and back problems like I do backup cameras are a life saver. Side windows I'm fine but for me it is very difficult and often painful for me to turn far enough to look out the back window and I use my mirrors alot.
