Acura Integra Trunk Latch Repair (Free)

Sorry about the format on this, it was originally suppose to be a short.

That said, when I disassembled the rear hatch actuator on my 2000 Acura Integra I found a broken piece of plastic was causing it not to work. In this video I show you how to fix this common problem with a zip tie.

I hope this info saves you some time and money.

Thank you for watching!

  1. From somebody who's blind loves Hondas I always enjoyed the videos. It really helps me when I'm working on my own things. And heck what's what's a zip tie I mean if you don't know it's because you don't own a Honda lol. I keep them in the car all the time just in case. Most Hondas you'll a zip tie probably shouldn't be but it works lol. Very nice temporary fix

  2. Omg thank you much I’m doing this tonight lol. Only thing I hate about the 98-01 they got rid of the cable !

  3. 05-17 Honda Odysseys have an actuator that is like exactly the same as this one on the inside, used for unlatching the sliding doors from the open and closed positions. They don't usually develop this problem, but they do tend to a develop an issue where a pin inside that clutch assembly starts sticking. This causes an issue where the sliding doors attempt to open, the motor groans, and then it returns to the position it was in. It's easily fixed by spraying that clutch pin with some lubricant, freeing it up so it works easily again.

  4. 🤔 mmmm well, well…

Between this and the antenna, I will have to see if I can fix this for the integra owner I know.

  5. And here I thought the whole thing was burned out. You're a lifesaver!

…but yeah, the aging plastics are the worst thing about Integras 😢

  6. Perfect case for a 3D printed part replacement. Just need someone to model one and make the model available on any of the usual sites.

  7. What moron thought it was a good idea to reinvent a trunk latch? The latch on my 1968 nova not once has ever givven me an issue and it doesn't require power, a motor, a bunch of plastic gears to strip out, or tiny clutch crap.

  8. My heart fills with joy when I get a new video notification from you ETCG thank you 🙏🏼 been watching your work for years saludos from Los Angeles 🌴

  9. Hay Eric, how ya been? How much is the Latch? Is it Discontinued? If so, can you get one from a Junkyard? And I'm staying dirty and still doing oil changes and tire rotations. Take care Brother. 👍🤌💪

  10. Zip-tie is a good idea but after superglue it and/or put some thin enough heated wires making the junction tight, and then you reinforce with superglue and adding the zip-tie superglued, let it dry for 2 days, and probably will never fail again. That part should be better designed
