Here is Part 2 of the Integra/Civic Rear Suspension Rebuild. This video covers the replacement of the front and rear coil springs. It also has some helpful tips on prepping for an alignment. If you do rear trailing arm bushings on these vehicles it is highly recommended that you get an alignment when you’re done. If not, you could get some nasty tire wear.
This series of videos was actually shot back in 2004 or 2005, I’m not sure which. That said, I believe it is the first repair video that I ever shot. It’s interesting to see how ETCG began. I hope you enjoy the video.
Lastly, they now make a special tool for removing these bushings that makes things a LOT easier. Here’s a link.

Thanks for the awesome video. Additionally, I suggest one use a rubber mallet instead of a hammer when placing the bolts into the bushing.

hey eric! I know this is an old video and what not, but I'm actually currently doing this to my 1992 Honda civic hatch back (same suspension as you know) but I'm having trouble with my rear toe bolt. I just wont budge. pb blasted it, nothing. the bolt seems to be coming out no problem but the bolt looks to be corroded to the mounting bracket itself. any ideas on what to do here? anything will help. thank you for your videos ALWAYS much appreciated

Hey eric, I can't seem to remove the bolt that connects the strut to the lca. I've repeatedly tried torching it with my propane torch and using liquid wrench, but it hasn't budged with my impact wrench. I don't know what else to do besides taking it in to a shop.
Eric would never let caliper hanging on the hose..

I've done this to my 97 Civic Lx.. (R.i.P) i found a complete rear end from scrappy yard and installed it exactly what these guys did.. except mine was a drum to disc so i had to replaced all the flex lines and E- cables..

I used ratchet straps to compress the spring cause I'm an idiot.
I dont understand changing the springs. Why replace the springs and not the struts. I cant imagine there is much difference in the springs they never wear out. If anything was worn it would be the struts. Or am I wrong?

Eric I have a question for you. When i turn left at low speed with my car it sounds like a fat woman in rubber tights or dragging your ass on a leather seat. I'ts a front wheel drive. I don't really hear the nothchiness of a failng CV joint could it be the steering rack or a anti roll bar bushing?
Idk what it is about those wishbone bolts but for me, more often than not, they're seized inside the lower control arm bushing and I have to cut them out.
So much for using a bungie cord to hold the brake caliper up lol

Great video, most never show both sides. Questions – Even back in the day did the aftermarket bushing really save the owner that much money? Seems like took you at least 1-2+ hours to remove and insert aftermarket bushings with some high end equipment a DIY'er wont have… and would you still do this repair the same way today?
Ok Eric I have a problem that has been kicking my ass all over the board!
I have a 1998 Chevy C1500 short bed. The truck had a perfectly fine running 4.3L V6 VORTEC in it, with 250k miles on it. So I took it out and did a 350 VORTEC engine swap.ÂÂÂ
When I was finally ready to start this thing for the first time 3 months later, I have little to no fuel pressure. However the wiring harness is the same accept the fact i changed out the MPFI plug for the top of the VORTEC spider injector so It can fire 8 cylinders instead of 6. The rest of the wires clipped right in.
Now here is the fun part. I thought maybe it was a bad fuel filter, changed it, nothing same problem. Thought maybe it was the fuel regulator inside the plastic upper plenum intake so I changed that as well. NOTHING. Ok maybe it was a defective regulator. So i capped off the return line to dead head the fuel pressure. STILL only 15-20 PSI.ÂÂÂ
So now I'm leaning toward fuel pump. I bought a AC DELCO pump from a dealership and Providing them the VIN #. I Installed it, and the new end they provided, STILL. NOTHING. So maybe it was a bad relay causing it not to have fuel pressure. I bypassed the relay and ran direct 12V DC to it and checked it with my multi-meter and was getting 4 Amps to the pump @ 12.68V.
I thought being a NY truck it might have had a corroded ground strap? So I cut the black ground to the pump and ground a bare metal spot on the frame to make a good ground. same result.
So maybe it was the fuel lines? I went on Rock Auto and bought the entire fuel line system from tank to injectors STILL….ONLY….15-20 FUCKING PSI!
DO YOU HAVE ANY CLUE WHAT THE HELL COULD CAUSE THIS ISSUE?!?! Because I am literally out of ideas!

+EricTheCarGuy could you help me i have a 2005 ford freestar and it won't start i just put a new starter in a week ago and it started fine ran and drove fine and when i parked it it would not start so i through the battery on a charger then put it back in and tried it again and nothing so then i turned the ignition on and all the lights and radio and put a multimeter and had 12.54 volts so if you could help me let me know any ideas thanksÂÂÂ
Only 2 hours extra to tell your S.O>? I replaced suspension stuff on my wife's 04 Civic, and sheared one of the rear blind bolts. That caused a long delay since drilling and trying to re-tap that was a slow process with near impossible reach. Also, it should be noted that your spring compressor is vital to getting the job done. The common ones that hook in and crank down independently do not allow enough compression to get them apart.

Knowing the vehicle was going in for an alignment I would have put weight on the vehicle before tightening the fork just in case it didn't seat proper before being aligned. Good vid Eric, thanks for sharing.  I gotta do struts, control arms, motor mount and oil change to a PT Cruiser today,
