2015 PowerNation Week #6 – What’s A 1940 Che-Pon?

2015 PowerNation Week #6 – What’s A 1940 Che-Pon?

This week on PowerNation our rollout of all new episodes continues with more hardcore, serious tech from our shops. Plus Courtney features this amazing tribute car – a 1940 Che-Pon, built by industry legend John Callies. It’s his tribute to the World War II Army Air Corp veterans. John is the ultimate gear head: he was the Motor Sports Manager for Pontiac from 1983 to 1994, he started Callies Performance Crank and now builds lifters for NASCAR with his latest company John Callies, Inc. His 8 year build of this 1940 Chevy sedan is unlike most builds with it’s aircraft inspired theme. It has 50 caliber bullets from a P51 Mustang in the front grill, a cockpit like aluminum interior with dashboard pinup art, and an airplane steering wheel just to name a few. But under the hood is where this baby really gets your attention; a 557 cubic inch Pontiac that makes 750 horsepower on pump gas and 1100 horses on nitrous. Maybe now you’ve figured out the name? There’s a whole lot more of this gorgeous custom we’ll show you this week on PowerNation.
