2009 Acura RL – EricTheCarGuy

Well when I used to work at the dealership I used to perform what is called a PDI (PreDeliveryInspection) or TQI (TotalQualityInspection) on new cars. One day I decided to video these procedures and throw in my 2 cents worth. It was these videos that got me to thinking of making an all car channel as they got more hits than anything else I was making at the time. The flip side is that quite a few people disagreed with my assessments of some of these cars and resorted to personal attacks. To those people I say relax, it is just an opinion after all, I’m not here to piss you off, just entertain and perhaps educate if I can. Go easy on me.

  1. A Very Beautiful Acura RL, Eric👍

  2. Hi Eric, I know this video is old as hell. I am in the process of seeking out a 2005-2008 RL, I just like the styling better than the beaked 09+ design. Looking at an average of 100k miles, what are the big things I should be looking for with this particular vehicle. Thank you!
    C.

  3. I'd rather buy a 2002-2006 Infiniti Q45 over this acura anyday. The Q45 looks much better, is larger, has a smoother ride, more luxury features and has a very powerful Nissan 4.5L V8 that get better gas mileage than this Honda 3.7 V6.

  4. This is by far one of the most reliable cars ever, the only downside is that it doesn't come with a diesel engine, that's what makes it less competitive in Europe, all it's major competitor do have a diesel engine, the BMW 5/7 series the MB, the volvo and the list goes on, Please Honda, consider a diesel engine

  5. Damn this car will be a nightmare to maintain when it gets old. As long as it's young though, I'm sure it's a great car. Definitely designed for the new car buyer with a service plan.
It's surprising to me how new cars can have so much aluminum and still be so heavy. I'm generally not a fan of aluminum due to it's softness, but with this much stuff in the car it's apparently necessary. But all that aside, it does look quite nice.

  6. I will get this right off my iPod lol

I'm a apprentice at a land rover dealership and I'm sick of of doing PDI's. Yeah they sound cool but when you do 6 a day it becomes tiresome. Great videos though, I'm learning alot 🙂

  7. @uosa1 They sold way more TL's than RL's. Think about it, for that money you could have a BMW with 4 years of service included in the cost. I think the TL was a solid car all around for the money, the RL seemed gimmicky to me and slow because it had a complicated drive train and it was heavy.

  8. @immortal4942 If I'm honest I really wouldn't mind that, I think this car really hasn't found an identity since the 05 came out, it seems caught between 2 worlds to me, performance and luxury, the problem is I never thought this one did either one well and for the kind of money they want for it you could easily get a BMW with a 4 year service plan. I think it's too heavy to perform well and the luxury items seem kind of "gimmicky".

  9. the car is nice but they just need to do something about the power of the engine, if the car ways to damn much for the v6 to pull it then they need to do something about it, the car gets considerably less gas mileage for hardly any power improvement. get a v8 in there or turbocharge and acura might see some real recognition.
