Ah the second installment of the Tahoe engine swap, I thought it was going to be pretty straightforward, it gave every indication that it would be I was very wrong. I had hoped to finish the swap in one day but given some of the ‘little’ things that held me up like the fuel lines behind the ABS modulator, no space to put the hook between the rear of the engine and the firewall, having to take the exhaust off and the fastener that was placed behind the O2, little things that added up to kicking my butt. The cool thing was that I got to use 2 cameras for this shoot which makes this a historical event, it’s all for you my dear viewers.

  1. what do you do with your floor dry and oil rags? dispose the same way as used oil? the couple shops ive worked at in my life have just tossed it in the garbage…

  2. All right my LS guys in the comment section I have a 2005 Silverado and I'm working on it now and in my digging I found out that I may have 07 or better LS motor in there it may be a LS3 how can I tell the difference?

  3. Hooks?…Nahhh. Lift an engine & trans by the valve cover?…Noooo.
    Bolt through a chain link (with thick fender washers, if desired) using the extra bolt holes in the heads.

  6. @EricTheCarGuy There are fuel quick-connects at the top of the engine on the drivers side that would have saved some effort and frustration – not sure anyone else mentioned. Also I've found it easier to drop the trans out the bottom that drop the front diff. just my 2c . and yeah I know this is super old video

  8. Subscribed… also just to give u some advice and not saying you didn’t already know but when I pull trans with eng I hook the chain in the exhaust studs where the downpipe connects to it. That way it distributes the weight buddy

I'm doing one now… yeah I thought it was going to be a piece of cake too.. all I can say is OMG!!  LOL … I hope it goes in easier with the motor tilting as it does…let me know what you come up with on your chain configuration…my motor is ready to come out the, but the cherry picker is not long enough. damn bumper is coming off.. lol   errrr     thanks for the conformation..

    Love your videos. Can you tell me what kind of cameras that your are using to shoot your videos? I'm going to be diving into replacing a camshaft and lifter (s) on a 5.3 L , 2006, Silverado, with only 98,000 milles on it.

  11. eric i have a question I have a 2007 new body style silverado with 4.8 engine, now i came up on a 2002 tahoe with a 5.3 no i want to swap the engines. now my question is it an easy swap??? i really want a 5.3 in my truck

  12. Even though Eric had a very hard time with this engine, especially without a lift, he seems much happier and way more enthusiastic than in his very recent videos. I love these "old" down to earth videos!

  13. Hey Eric I have a 2003 Chevy Tahoe ls rear wheel drive I have 190,000 miles on it so I want to replace the engine and trams and I saw the motor that u got u said that it's almost new my big question is we're do u get it from?
