This is a video showing how to replace the cabin air filter on a 2004 Toyota 4Runner. It’s not a glamourous or difficult job but it’s something that should probably be done about every 30K or so. I used a special filter this time, one that helps eliminate odor as well as filter the air coming into the HVAC system. This job should save you quite a bit since it can run up to $100 or more at the shop and given that you don’t even need tools to do it it can really save you some money.
Stay dirty

Does a 04 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab trd sr5 have a cabin air fliter?
Excelent my frend…
When I did this I had about a shoebox size amount of what looked like insulation on top of the filter. I had a mouse I guess. Good to know I was breathing in all that fresh mouse air for months.
I love your videos…and your easy going attitude is a pleasure to watch. Keep up the great work buddy!
Dude, did you just crawl out of a sewer? Those gloves look like shit. If I spotted those as a customer it would be, “Where are my keys?!†I love your channel, I’ve learned a ton. But, please retire the gloves.
Awesome!
My husband bought me the filter and then said I could figure it out. Well, one EricTheCarGuy video later, it literally took me 2 minutes to replace. Thanks!

My price:
Amazon filter $10… + my labor (5 min).
vs. Auto repair $40.00 charge.
Eric is it the same process for a 3rd gen 4Runner (2000)??
Eric,
I've gotta replace the blower fan, looks pretty straight forward, take out the glove box, and that exposes the blower fan right ? 2oo4 4 runner.
2004 4runner…
when I push the bottom for the top vents to blow I get very little to nothing blow towards the windshield, all other vents work fine. do you think the filter is clogged up and not enough pressure reaches the top windshield vent?
Hey Eric where exactly is the blower resistor located in this model?
thanks!
Thank you!

Good thing you didn't have to take apart the entire car to change that. It's just silly how you bascially need to take apart the entire dash to change those filters on some cars. Thanks for the video!
