This video features the muffler replacement on a 2001 Acura Integra. Admittedly, one of my favorite vehicles and I love when it comes into the shop. That said, it came in due to noise from the exhaust. I found that the muffler was in less than stellar shape, and decided to replace it. The rest of the exhaust was in good enough shape. I used an aftermarket part which is something I’m always cautious of when it comes to imports. The quality and fit is all over the map it seems and to be honest, this one was no exception. In fact, I could have cut about 2″ off of this one to make it fit a little better.
This video also features tips on using a torch to remove rusty fasteners. There was a little excitement when the torch caught on fire, but we fixed it and moved on with the repair.
**Note that this is the first repair video featuring my new camera and editing software. I’m still learning the ropes, but I’m getting better with each new video I produce. So in case you were wondering why this video looked and sounded differently, you now know why. I hope you like the changes.

I have a 1995 Acura Integra and I want to get a used engine from the junk yard . They told me only 94 and 95 are interchangeable . My Question is, are new model Integra engines interchangeable if I included the transmission or what's the deal with only those 2 years being interchangeable? Cause I can buy different motor mounts if that's the issue . Does anyone have advice ?
Is it okay to put the bolts back on without the spring?
The reason that exhaust is longer than usual is because it's made for an Integra LS.. the LS muffler is longer than the GSRs … and the aftemarket industry only makes that muffler for the ls .. you have to go to Honda to get the shorter belly muffler.. just installed my oem one .
Great Video! What brand muffler & cat do you recommend for replacement? Both of them are needing replaced on my Integra.
Damn, my 94 GSR with 360K miles still has the original stock rear exhaust section and muffler on it, even the original stock chrome muffler tip! And no it's not rusted out! The only things I ever changed were to get rid of the stock resonator B-pipe due to lack of ground clearance (it always scraped parking garage ramps), and replaced the factory header a couple of times due to annoying rattles.

I don't even mess with the old stuff. I always replace the hardware so I just cut the bolts off.
Question about oxygen acetylene… I am looking to learn to weld, and, at the same time, it would be beneficial to have the torch for heat, or even cutting. But, in reality, this would be an addition to a hobby and not something I would use very often. So, do the oxygen and acetylene gases last forever, if not used? Do they need to be used by a certain amount of time? etc… Thanks. (I've heard acetylene is unstable and won't store)

where did you get this muffler how much do you remember paying. i am thinking about buying a ebay cheap cat back system. i want the flanges, i was thinking about buying the catback and cutting the fart can off and welding on a regular muffler. would it be better to weld on the muffler and then clamp over it or just weld. a local shop installed new exhaust for me from cat all the way back 3 years ago and it has fallen off since. i just want a exhaust i know will last a bit longer is why i am getting new cat with flanges and cheap cat back that has flanges, but i want a regualr muffler not that loud fart can what should i do? thank you

As a way to make it easier in the future to change the nuts and bolts because of the rust, could I put anti-seize on them so it is easier to take off, or would it be just a waste of time?

That bosal replacement muffler will rust so fast. Nothing beats OEM Honda parts that last 15+years. Nice video, but getting the right parts is key. It's a GS-R it deserves it, that long tip looks bad. Can you ask the customer if they would sell this car to me PLEASE?

For some reason many Hondas have problems with rotting exhaust systems.  I had a Vigor in Texas that had the B pipe and muffler rot from the inside out at only 120K miles.  Highest mile car I ever had was an SC300 and the stock Toyota exhaust never needed any repair up to 310K miles.  I'm now chasing another exhaust leak in the Vigor.  Honda quit supplying the A pipe and the exhaust manifold is $700+.  Maybe I can have a welder patch it to stay OEM instead of putting Chinese parts on the car with the A pipe.ÂÂÂ

Replacing exhaust parts is a real pain without the proper tools. My muffler had a pipe that was too long as well, but you can't always get what you want with old cars
