Here is the second installment of the 1998 Chrysler Town & Country Transmission/Radiator Replacement series. In this episode the transmission comes out, we swap things over, and install it back into the van. Well, mostly install it. As you’ll see, there’s still quite a bit more work to be done.

That air plenum that he didn't want to remove tales about 10 minutes to remove. Removing for many repairs it is standard operating procedure.
We usually pull battery then motor And trans together then fuel tank! Roll it on trailer pull tires and its ready to go to junk yard. They cry if you leave motor, battery, fuel tank and tires ! Don't understand why you put a trans in it?

OK video, so easy to do when you can lift a car. BUT, why in a world you did not replace, always leaking rear main seal?? Would be so, so easy to do, same time, only $10 part, and, always leaking in Chryslers/ Plymouth/ Dodges??? Just wondering….
I don't understand why after you've broken things loose you don't use either a Pneumatic or lithium tool.
By not using a Pneumatic or lithium ratchet and stubby impact it makes that job look easily twice as hard.
You can get your old transmission on the floor very quickly simply by giving the transmission jack a nudge.

Motivates me to replace the outgoing unit of my 99' Grand Caravan…
Hi Eric, I am trying to replace the differential bearings on a 1999 dodge caravan which I think same as your demo van. I need to take the differential out of the transmission but obviously the removal of the whole transmission is quite a big work for a backyard mechanic. I am thinking to remove the front and rear engine mounts and tilt up the engine from the front a little bit to give room to roll out the differential from the back. Do you think it is gonna workout? I am not sure if there is enough room to release when the engine is pushed to the front. if yes, will the side engine mounts support the engine well enough to rotate? I appreciate if you can give me some tip about this project, as long as without transmission removal Thanks in advance.

I pulled my Dodge 1996 Caravan Transmission by myself with a 3 ton jack and 1-1/2 ton jacks. it was a real * ** * *****. I got a rebuild from a wreaking yard. The 3.8 engine is really tough to get access to some nuts. I drove it for three years and recently sold it with other issues.
That trans and radiator is worth more than the car

I wonder if the transmission that was burned out was the original transmission from the factory
PTFE tape usually is needed with tapered fittings as by their nature they tend to form fluid tight seals.
i would like to see an engine replacement on a crysler town and country please eric

17:51 in the process of just changing my sensors. the output one you just pulled out….I can see how there's lot of metal…mine is stuck and seized inside the threads.
I guess that output sensor attracts lots of metals- mines taking more effort to come out

wow that's a very nice looking transmission.. I recently bought a Trans from lkq auto parts. and it didn't look nothing like this.. plus their service was terrible.. what's the name of that company that sells those refurbished transmissions? I need to finish fixing my 2003 chrysler T&C
