  1. Hi Eric, Old trucker here, 50 years on the road in the UK and North America. I would like to pass on this tip for cold starting diesel trucks. This is for extreme emergency situations and not for cars or pick ups. The battery must be able to turn the motor over fairly fast. Remove the filter, get a rag and tie it onto the pin puller or a steel rod, dip it into diesel fuel, squeeze it out, light it and hold it to the induction. Get a buddy to start the motor MAKE SURE THE FILTER IS OUT! Let the motor suck in the flame, but not for too long. You do not want the rag to get too friendly with the motor. In the UK we call it flaming the motor. It does work. I have used it many times. Regards, Al Ward, Canada PS For big Semis only.

  2. ahhh a cat 3406, ive worked on those for years being a CAT diesel engine rebuild Engineer XD nice engines those are, reliable

  4. Well,

Volkswagen, and the other German manufacturers are among the least reliable brands in North America.

And Ford is the #2 selling automaker in Europe.

So it seems your arrogance about European (German?) brands being better than American brands is a little undeserved

  5. @ericthecarguy. I just wanted to say that I went universal to universal technical institute for industrial diesel technology and almost did the automotive program but i figured that an extra 10k would not be worth it. Boy was i right, everything that i woulda learned there in an extra 8 months i did here in just a few months. FOR FREE! But no worries j.b hunt just offered me a job at an awesome starting pay that in no time i shall be purchasing some Honda engine series videos from your site sir.

  6. Sweet, I live about 45 mins away from Pittsburgh, if you are still around that area I might bring my car to you and you could do a video on changing a filler neck 😀 (I would pay you of course)

  7. It may seem cool to beat your chest and and laugh at automatics, but I get to witness the effects on the human body of driving a truck for a few decades. In addition to numerous health problems from heart disease, obesity, hypertension, back pain, trucks drivers also have to endure a worn left knee. And in many ways, the treatments are worse than the problem.

  8. Doing a pti or vi doesnt make you a pro it makes you responsible. Noticing çhanges doesnt make you a pro it means you have a decent memory. And just because you dont get dirty during a pretrip doesnt mean your dangerous it means your smart enough to wear gloves. Smoking like a steering wheel holder that probably thinks that blue vavle is the bat signal.
