In today’s video, we explore the two most recommended and unnecessary add-on maintenance items. I will answer the question of whether or not you need to do automotive maintenance that’s not listed in your owners manual or recommended by the auto manufacturer.

Who has never had these 2 services done yet your car is still running like a champ? List make, model, year and miles. Go!
Please do not listen to this idiot all these flushes he says dont do are not scams there legit, do us a favor and go ahead and drain your fluid on ur trans and show us what it looks like
00:55 this man sounds like a newscaster and i cant unhear it
Just a couple of things, this sealed for life transmission business is nonsense you can go longer with synthetic but they still need servicing, ZF recommends I service my "sealed for life transmission" every 80 thousand km. Also the power steering reservoir contains a filter so the tank needs replacing when servicing.
Thank you! Great information 💯❤️
Just bought a 2018 GLC300. Iridium spark plugs? Every 50k miles. Tranny oil? Every 60k miles (cost $1,200).
Sounds like Liquid Moli Diesel Purge that I used on my MB 300 SDL. 157K on my MB OM642 with no issues.
There is a product from BASF KEROPUR, you can use it every 3rd or 4th time you fill up.
My 04 c230 kompressor with 150k has never had a fuel injection service and gets 25 mpg and runs great. Love your videos Alex, I've been a fan for a while now and finally caught up enough to watch your older vids.
Great just when you want to see this clown eating breakfast
Mercedes CL 500 2002 5.0 l m113 engine, urban -9.7l/100km city approx 14l/100km
Nice video my 2005 e320 with 200k miles never had any of that running like new 👍 I haven't even changed the transmission fluid yet no issues at all
check out the fifth gear episode on fuel additive quiet insightful. They were just doing the ones you put in the fuel tank. Can't remember if they did an emissions test though.
This type of practical advice is what is needed to be shown to people. Thanks for being so down to earth and taking the time to explain things to those of us without wrenches.
2013 BMW 550i 60k miles dealer offered me fuel injector cleaning for $250 but when I ask what exactly are they doing service advisor couldn’t tell me I decline. I fuel my car at Costco with 93 every time.
Never Never Ever do a transmission FLUSH, a Filter and oil Change is fine… But, in my experience you should at min change it at or around 100k… but, if you car has very dirty almost black looking fluid and rocking 200k or something then I wouldn't recommend doing much to it… I have seen many transmissions fail with dark fluid and a slight "stutter" right after the fluid is changed or flushed.
hey buddy what do you think can be the reason that sometimes in the morning when i start the car i smell a little gasoline inside the car but is just for few minutes i have a 2015 c300 w205 with 60000 miles
I was a Metric brand tech in the 90’s and we used to sell the BG fuel system flush services that came with 2 cans, one for the tank and one for the apparatus that went to the fuel rail (anyone remember digging the tokens out of each can? I still have scars!) and many times we did the in tank treatment and threw the other cans in our boxes or dumped the product in a drain pan to get the token out just because many cars were a PITA to hook up to and within a month the tank and delivery system would be missing pieces and was unusable. Techs hate performing some of those services and another .2 or .3 on top of a even a major service that pays 4 hours that you can knock out in an hour and half suddenly you have to sit and let the car run for 30 minutes or more tying up a rack when you could be 1/3 through the next service that the next guy was going to get if you too long. My shop had a few flat bays so I tried to actually do as many as I could just to feel ethical that I had actually done the work the customer paid for, many did not have the same conflict of continence. This was also around the time they went from a tech turning his own hours to the wonderful team system that made you subsidize your lube tech and make it easy for rookies to sit back and take the easy stuff like these goofy flushes while the old wrenches did the hard work while they got the same hour share. Things got really cutthroat at the end and I left the shops in 95 and went into design and engineering but still do all of my own vehicle work and have always driven high performance cars and I would never even consider doing this on my own cars. Wallet flushes for sure and if you use good gas you should be good to go! Pro tip, methanol injection works great for GDI engines that get intake build up! Great video Alex and I keep finding videos I have not seen. Thanks for everything you do for the community.
03 Toyota Sequoia with 280,000 miles. Never been to the dealer ive done all the maintenance myself, runs like new still
I paid $700 for my Transmission Fluid Flush at the dealer on my 2015 CLA 250 at 60k miles. Only reason I did it was because my last car 2007 Sentra the transmission was bad and eventually went out.
great advise as always
are this manuals pretty good? i got a e-manual from another place was useless for a 04 w209 clk500
Alex, you have the best DIY channel on YouTube especially for Mercedes
If you use the turkey baster, buy a new one for the kitchen
Spot on about the cleaning services really not being everything they are billed as. I can't say enough about using "Top Tier" fuel" – https://www.toptiergas.com/ as well as periodic PEA additives added to the fuel. As for the power steering fluid. You can just drain and fill your power steering reservoir a few times while driving in between drainfills and accomplish the same thing. I'm a fan of the "Turkey baster" method.
My MB is running fine. Oil service every 8-10k with an oil filter change as they are cheap and Uber easy to replace every 5K
Excellent video. What about cleaning the carbon in the intake manifold and the admision valves in the GDI?
