Learn how an oil sample taken during an oil change can tell you the condition of the engine in your car.
With my Ford, I was curious about the condition of the engine after 300k miles. Are bearings worn? Is there a coolant leak? Is my oil protecting the engine? Sure you can do a compression test, but that only tell you so much. I could have used my borescope camera, but again, you only get so much info. With this oil analysis, you can learn a lot about the condition of your engine.

  1. You went beyond from earth to the moon. I don’t care if you have oil in your radiator, your vehicle, went beyond its limits.

  2. If you are getting coolant in your oil, you will usually get a positive reading for water. (Coolant is 50% water) I do this (Oil testing) for a living. You need a baseline oil sample to start with, fresh out of the bottle, to compare to the sample taken at the next oil change. As long as you always use the same brand of oil, you never need a new baseline test. Sodium is used in some oils, as a detergent additive. Common metals that can be used to make neutral or basic oil detergents are sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium and barium. Get the baseline test of the new oil before testing it at the oil change.

  3. I took over my dads old car with 290km on it and I thought it had an old change done not too long ago. After driving for a couple days I looked up and saw that it said next service was supposed to be 5 years ago. I asked him about it and he said he guess he forgot. So basically my car had the same oil for around 60k and 290km

  4. Wait…how old are you? You sound sooo young. You’ve had this car since 95? Sounds like you were born in 95.
