In this video, I fully remove the cab from SVT Lightning to reveal its gigantic and very broke engine. I pushed this Lightning a little too far knowing it had weak head gaskets and here’s what happened. Now the good news is while taking the engine apart I found a nice surprise that the previous owner or Ford dealer replaced for me! Enjoy!

  1. I know this is a 2 year old vid, but I have always loved the Gen2 lightnings and one day I will get one, but i have to say, the gauges in the lightening and svt cobra are hands down the best backlit gauges in the game…I said what i said lol. Im living vicariously through you working on your lightning. I hope to see some newer content with it soon 🙂

  2. I don't think you are supposed to use an impact removing body mount bolts. I believe i heard it can cause the thread lock to bind. The passenger side you did with a ratchet and it came out clean

  3. The problem with relying on the temp gauge to tell when the engine is overheated, is that it REQUIRES coolant to be in contact with the sensor to get a reading even the far side of accurate. If you don't have coolant at the sensor, you could have a normal looking temp on the gauge, meanwhile the engine is melting.

  4. I know it's been a while since you did all this but I myself just bought a '02 true blue lightning and after it's been at the mechanic shop found out that it is burning oil… The mechanic thinks that the piston rings are bad… Regardless on what is wrong, the engine needs to be rebuilt anyway so I was wondering what I should have them replace (other than the bad parts). I am thinking about maybe ported heads, ported blower but I don't know what else would be good to replace. I'm not looking to modify this truck too much, it's going to just be a fun truck and I'm looking to get at most 500-550hp. Any recommendations?

  5. Any interest in helping me with a 1992VW Passat GL wagon? Need some tlc and a 100k engine service…. Funds for us are tight and it’s our only car to use for our kids…..

  6. Any chance you would be interested in restoring a 1992 VW Passat gl wagon??? Needs some engine toss and some minor bodywork/paint. Funds for us are extremely low and it’s our only car for our family…. PM me and let me know

  7. See how much easier it is to remove the EGR valve tube when you have the combination wrench oriented in the OFF direction, instead of the ON direction?

  8. When you find a rusty bolt like those body bolts, when you replace them do you use something like nickle anti-seize on the threads to prevent them from rusting/seizing again?

  9. 9:23,,,,I was doing something similar to an air compressor. And that's when the plastic fan blade broke off.

And the 5 inch diameter replacement fan for this no longer manufactured air compressor costs more than I paid for the whole compressor.

  10. Hey guys I am bit late to the party but one of those heads has a heat tab on the back which shows if you over heat it the center melts out so I'd say that head has been replaced or at least the gasket

  11. Pretty sure your right about the heads being replaced. My 99 came stock with ZERO exhaust manifold gaskets. When I ejected 2 plugs I had the head removed and "Timecert" incerts put in all the plug valleys holes.

  12. I had a 01 L, loved it, switched to an electric fan and the relay failed one day, the truck overheated blew off all the freon and pumped coolant out. The temp gauge never went above half way, I was told by the tech that worked on it for me (I worked at at dealership) that the gauges don't go much past 1/2 way no mater what, be careful.

  13. Barrel of fun….
I'll be pulling the head on my Crown Vic, ' cause I done dinged a valve, while doing an intake replacement video… The camera makes ya do all sorts of STUPID stuff…
