Use stainless steel media with the bolts. It will clean them much faster and thoroughly, and the media never wears out. Its what is used to clean pew pew brass.

So after watching this video as well as other AMG videos, I know now ILL NEVER, NEVER, NEVER buy a Mercedes AMG product. I absolutely LOVE rebuilding cars HOWEVER the germans can keep that BullSh!T

Even if you paid someone a ton of money to rebuild the engine, they would never sandblast covers and freaking polish fasteners… whoever buys Alex’s car is a lucky bastard!
My daily IS my project.. I have an 04 SVT Focus. It's pretty clean, and I just got it so there are quite a few things to do.
I got the aftermarket head unit and door speakers working and installed an amp wired in to the factory sub, so it sounds good.
I need to fix the sunroof and repair the horrible exhaust tip install (2.25" into a 5" tip… with holes from rust)
Next, I will dive into lots of maintenance. Timing belt/waterpump and thermostat housing are the first items on the list of real maintenance.

So basically German cars are leaky pieces of crap.
You need tumbling media. Walnut shells, for example.
Maybe an Ultra Sonic Cleaner to clean bolt's. I have cleaned parts and pieces by adding alchohol in a container and aggravating it with a massager. Same principle as an ultrasonic Cleaner. I have cleaned my wife's jewelry this way as well.

Dude if you have a dollar store near you ,use the spot and stain for carpet, in a red squirt bottle, it works amazing, won't discolor paint or aluminum, works great for grease, start car to warm it up, spray away! I would say it works better then engine degreaser, this stuff is killer to clean brake dust, and tires are clean, clean, clean, all for a buck. Please we try it, a dollar, you will not be disappointed, Alsome spot and stain remover, red spray bottle. Shot blast is what that dude was trying to say
We use regular mineral spirits paint thinner.
