You picked the build, so here we go! When I deduct travel time, I’ve got 24 days to complete this build for its first competition. Worried? Naw – already signed up. Bought the shirt. Do I know what I’m doing? Not even close. PERFECT. Let’s walk around this Chevrolet Chevelle and talk about the build “plan”. I’m counting on your comments to make this thing really work – after all, if you ain’t first, you’re last. Seriously looking for forums or groups where I can ask questions, learning as I go here. Be sure to check out cleetus and cars / cleetus mcfarland, and freedom factory. I would like to meet you in person!

  1. hey Derek, remember that tractor vid where ya told the boy to ease up on the weirdness? ( and yep he was being goofy but hey thats what being a boys all about)
well the reason a fellas bringing it up is because at 0:14 seconds we see where he gets it…just sayin. ( and dont you EVER change )

  2. I find it hard to believe "Burn Out" is a thing unto itself. Spinning wheels and making smoke doesn't seem like an event. More like something that happens as a consequence of some other event, like drag racing.

  3. Now that INDEPENDENCE has become a VGG cult hero burnout monster (retired). I'm sure Ronda and her late Pop's would agree that Derek put his heart and soul into Independence. This story gets you right in the Feels.

  4. So I'm not a gear head just do my own vehicle maintenance buttt at 2:55 that big ass Fuel tank I know space is always a premium for tools and parts on revivals but seems like lugging that round that would be a necessary evil save ya lot of money on filters if the tank was trashed at least probably a bit safer for the engine health as well

  5. I know this is old but the simplest way I know to check gear ratio is on a open dif jack one rear wheel up is to turn the tire one full turn and count the revolutions of the driveshaft and it will get you very close to ratio, with locker or posi jack both wheels up

  6. 1:23 Oh MY oh MY! What a glorious photo of 1980’s family and AMERICAN pride 🙌 the American flag on top of American flag painted car… doesn’t get much better than that!

  7. Rewatching this build amazing to see how much was done and glad to see it. Not many people out there willing to save on a old classic that was this far gone

  8. Thar story hit home for me, I had 70 Chevelle that my neighbor gave me and he was like a grandfather to me. Was a 307 Spitfire green. My brother took a week vacation to build it for me. I wasn't able to see it till it was done. He wanted the car so bad as a kid growing up. So long story short that car was a connection to me my brother and my neighbor. wish i still had it..

  9. I was thinking it would make a better drift car. You could jam a stick on the gas pedal and driver her off a cliff and see how far she drifts before she smashes against some rocks

  10. So awesome to hear a little bit of the story of this old girl sad to see what it was and how bad it is now hopefully it brought back great memories for the lady that used to love her a ton @ViceGripGarage
