Watch me Ceramic Coat the awesome headlights and more.

Modifying any car comes with a price. Your wallet will definitely get thinner but you may also encounter strange issues along the way. Here are some weird problems I’ve had with My 2003 Mercedes E55 AMG and a tip for any modified M113k engine.

I’m super excited to announce a totally free way that anyone can support the channel!! I was approved for an Amazon Influencer account which allows YouTubers like myself, and other creators to earn a small commission from sales generated from people first clicking on my Amazon link, and then buying anything from Amazon. This doesn’t cost you a penny as Amazon compensates the creators for driving traffic and sales to the site. So even if you don’t buy the product or tool that I link in the video description box, you are still supporting the channel by shopping on Amazon after you clicked through any of my links. Each video will have either specific links to things I use or talk about in the video, or you will see my general LegitStreetCars Amazon link like this. https://www.amazon.com/shop/legitstreetcars

  1. I can tell you this much. If you leave a Bluetooth/wifi OBD dongle plugged in and you run the Throttle learn, Transmission adaptation reset, or clear adaptations though the 36pin connector using a multiplexor(which I'm sure you did after you installed the new Throttlebody because it's standard procedure), it will cause it to shift exactly the way you described. It's like you let off the throttle before you completely disengaged the clutch on a manual trans(because these cars shift gears using lift throttle shifts just like you do in a manual. This can/will also damage the "main", "Overload protection", also known as the "Smog Pump" relay. Make sure you replace it with one of the same rating and brand if you can. The different brands have different internals, which can affect timing between the throttle and clutch engagement during shifts. Sounds odd, but I assure you it does.
So, I recommend NEVER leaving a OBD dongle in a m112 or m113 powered mercedes. I suspect this affects more Mercedes than that, and Chrysler products with 722.6 and similar engine and trans ecus.
    Chargers
    Challengers
    Jeeps
    996 and 997 Porsches
Etc. You can look up cars with 722.6 on Wiki, there's others.
Solving the problems caused by this may not be completely reversible, but I replaced the engine ecu and it fixed it for the most part. You can also reflash the ecu maps using ktag, or I assume SDS.
I bet there's thousands of folks out there with this problem, since it's pretty popular nowadays to use the OBD dongle to broadcast engine parameters to a display…

  2. My e55 has same problem…zero traction. Items installed…
    – 83mm sc pulley,
    – 68mm crank pully
    – kleeman headers,
    – ecu/tcu tune by eurochged,
    – 550cc injectors,
    – heat exchanger
    – split cooling w/ ice tank in trunk with rule 2000 pump
    – looped fuel rail
    – Johnson intercooler pump
    – billet aluminum iddler pulleys
I just bought 19in Goodyear eagle f1 tires for the rear and traction is absolutely horrible! Even flooring it while going 55mph can sometimes cause the back end to slide way out. Flooring it at a standstill is completely out of the question. Cant really put the petal to the floor at all if its in first gear. Hopefully tires will much better traction when the weather is warmer. Aside from no traction I absolutely love this car!

  3. Funny you should mention it kind of thing, I have had/built a few forced induction cars. The Buick Regals 84-87 factory shop guide states the tune up procedure as sort of the same. Unplug the battery for 10 minutes then drive car at 3/4 throttle a few times – car tunes itself. They had 3 coil wasted spark electronic systems (no distributor back then even) and an exceedingly good knock sensor that let the turbo spool up to 15 psi. You could tap the radiator neck on the block with a screw driver while watching timing with a strobe and see the timing jump back as computer thought car was knocking. Found this all out when dealership wanted to charge $135 (1985) for tune up and I questioned them on procedure and the service manager said replace plugs (ok) retorque carb bolts (really? fuel injected you dope) and then had to hook to their computer to 'tune' it. I quoted factory shop guide to the guy including page number/paragraph. They then charged $36 to do the plugs and never f-ed with me again. Enjoying your videos as considering an AMG and your info is extremely helpful. Another fun one was a 90 Mk VII with whipple blower. Fun while it lasted! 😉 😛

  4. hi, can you please help me i have a check engine light on my 2007 c230 v6 with a 272 engine after i checked it i got the fault code
0746 self adaptaion of mixture formation at partial load for the right cylinder above the permissible limit
0750 self adaptaion of mixture formation at partial load for the left cylinder above the permissible limit

  5. I think putting the comfort mode was just a placebo… Since it engage 1st gear if you floor it… Correct me if I'm wrong (politely please)

Anyway I'm subscribing your channel.. love the E55, although I am more M5 kind of guy…

  6. I have a CLS55 IWC = ) and a lot of the issues you’ve experienced I am too so thank you for sharing your journey. Really helps clear the air. Going to speak with the Race iq team about a proper tune as I am now data logging (per your last video with an OBD puck +Dash Command)

  7. I had the same problem with my 2002 C320 alternator charging over 17V and it turned out to be the voltage regulator, which was an external part on the alternator that could be replaced. I think a new one from BOSH cost me around $15.

  8. I think i have same problem as you said in the video….
I modded my 2014 E550 into a 750 HP monster….but i think i am having exactly the issue you mentioned.
The car is just not so smoooooth during city driving. but WOT no issue. Car goes 0-60 mph in just 3.5 sec.
City driving, Car goes very sluggish sometimes and Gears are having hesitation.

I have done – Smoke test for vacuum leak or boost leak. But nothing found.

I am wanting to do what you did there. Reset driving style adaption.
So, if I disconnect battery, would i lose some settings in the car ?
    Please, advise.

    Thank you

  9. Hello Alex, My name is Ruben. I enjoy your channel.  Can you tell what the difference is between the 2006 CLS and the 2006 SL 55 AMGs pertaining to the horsepower rating of the SL is at 493 HP vs the CLS's at 469HP ? The torque ratings are the same at 516 lbs… is it exhaust or throttle body differences?
