More boost & more fuel makes my diesel go fast! In this video, we install a Race IQ Stage 1 ECU Tune and some Mickey Thompson drag radials on my 268,000 mile, 2005 Mercedes-Benz E320 CDI. We also test 0-60 MPH on the stock tune and the Stage 1 tune and the improvement is awesome. This turbo diesel Mercedes continues to impress even though it did break after 0-60 testing. She will be back and ready for even more mods!

  1. I was lucky. I bought my 05 E320 CDI for $6k from a Benz mechanic who already did the stage 1 tune, the cat and muffler deletes, the larger intercooler, the EGR and swirl flap deletes. He also changed out the Ball Joints, electric brake unit, fluid/filter/conductor plate on tranny and brand new tires. Car had 200k with not a speck of rust. This car does 0-60 in 5.5 sec! Still gets 38 MPG. Looks great and is super smooth.

  2. Hey Alex Tim Savage Here, I watch your stuff all the time most every evening. Thanks for what you do .
My question is that i have a 2009 MB GL320 3.0L Diesel and we love it. Its got 190k on it original engine and so on but have had some significant challenges with it early on due to emissions nonsense but i have RECTIFIED all of that. I Put a timing chain in it at 131K and did some other repairs while I had the engine out oil cooler orings and deleted dpf and scr as well as replaced the turbo charger at Dealers recommendation but still had the underboost condition due to dpf and scr issues with programming in the pcm causing it to go into limp mode etc. but i still have an issue with boost hose oring at the aluminum pipe off of the turbo to the resonator and then to the intercooler. the oring at the aluminum pipe will allow oil to leak down onto the serp. belt and destroy the belt in about 15k miles and slings oil and belt material all over everything. Does anyone offer a single pipe or tube to replace the current crappy design intercooler hose set up for this thing. You can text /call or even video chat to (270) 213-0582 or email to timsavage2011@gmail.com
I have been very dillegent about replacing the pcv system at every 4th oil change. I am also running rotella 15w-40 t5 oil and am using Lucas oil additive every 5k for oil changes. never go over. I plan to put at least another 200k on this vehicle. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Tim Savage Savage Automotive

  3. Apparently Illinois or wherever he is is generous on smog laws. It would be interesting to see how much he could get away with in Ca. A $3000 car is wonderful, as long as as long you actually get to enjoy it.

  4. Wow! Very exciting project. I’ve been in love with Mercedes diesels since my boss threw my the keys to his blue 300sd and told to me where to bring it to get detailed. I was 18. Let’s see….achieving 4.5 sec 0-60 W slicks might have made 1/4 mile run in the low 13’s. 13.20 best guess. What did it run and how is it doing?

  5. For 12 seconds you're going to have to replace your common rail pump to something bigger (don't know what) I'm sure the EU guys know the one to use.
I would use an HX35W turbo and buy the Turbo Header and Quick Spool Valve from Diesel Pump UK.
I don't know how well the 320 handles RPM because you are going to need to spin that engine up to about 5500 rpm to get the power needed.
If this was an OM606, this would be easy.
