The financial crisis hit investors hard. This one needed money so bad he sold me a clean title, low mileage Manual Transmission Mercedes Roadster for only $500!! Here’s the crazy story of an investor abandoning his Mercedes in a highrise in Chicago, and how I scooped it up so cheap. Teaser, it needed some stuff.

  1. Know the feeling. When I worked at a Nissan/Subaru dealer an older woman with a 84 Subaru Brat needed a governor gear and the repair estimate was $175. She wasn't putting any more money out and sold to me for $150. This was 1995 and those vehicles were pretty popular then., I spent $29 for a governor gear and cover gasket, cleaned it up and flipped it for $2900!!

  2. Old video but interesting, I think peoples eyes are a bit bigger than their bellies when they buy some of these cars, they're absolutely stretched to the 'nth degree just purchasing them so when they go wrong they just disappear, it's much easier to "look" rich than it is to actually make money the hard way.

  3. You have done a lot of Mercedes I wonder you have idea what I should do with my 2013 ML350 bluetech. The car run good but it have a lot carbon build up I wonder you have any suggestions for clean it or things to put in to slow down

  4. There’s a customer who authorised a repair job on a W211 E500 on his air suspension all four corner plus the air compressor. Once his got his bill back for 5500 AUD he freaked out. It been sitting there for about a year now.
    I’ll picked up my W211 E500 for about 15k 5.5 litre because the owner couldn’t afford the upkeep.

  5. Let me know if you are going to be doing the key fob in a W204 at any time.
    I love to watch you video's and learn about mercedes AMG because I have to friends that one them.

  6. Am looking at one but its kinda funky. It goes into 1st and 2nd fine but doesnt center well into neutral and going to 3rd is tempermental so im wondering if theres like a bushing or something to look for.

  7. Those are the AMG monoblocks too! same as mine! love these slks honesty. some parts are pretty available believe it or not. Maintenance is EVERYTHING.

    If you dont MAINTAIN IT
    it will MAINTAIN YOU.

    I honestly want to go nationwide fixing the r170 chassis. They are wonderful cars that just need a solid group of loyal supporters

    Question reguarding the 170 chassis; do you think greater steering angle can be achieved?

  8. My Audi dealer called me after I sent a stranded busted timing belt customer to them. They said the people bought a new car, and offered me first shot at the old one. It was maybe $1500 for a clean 1994 Audi 90 quattro that needed another $1500 or so. I did the deal and flipped it for a few bucks, but it ended up I got invited to NICE parties there, like the launch party for Porsche and Audi and even Audi quattro Challenge, circa 2002

    Funny the dealer figured out who I was from the story the customer told them, and worked backwards to get my phone number from the files, lol.

  9. I've really enjoyed following your channel, upgrades, and exploits. But if you're looking for a "storytime" title name it "Legit Street Stories". Just my $.02. rob shin..

  10. I have a 2014 C63. I absolutely love it. But after the few times I’ve had to pay to have work done on it, my guess would be that these people either don’t have enough money and didn’t factor in the necessary maintenance intervals needed to keep her purring; or they knew how much the dealership rips them off for parts and labor on said maintenance and just said “Fuck it, it’ll be cheaper to buy a new one” lol 😂

  11. Hello Alex, I have a question regarding my oil level sensor. I keep getting a “Check your oil level at next fill up”. The level is fine but get that msg ever since I got the car at 130K. I now have 175k. Anything I should worry about other than a faulty sensor. BTW. It’s a 2008 E550. Love the car!

  12. My dad had a customor with an SL600. It had a B service sceduled so he left it in 2011. He did not came back ever. We tried contacting this guy or his family but faild. Well its still sitting in the corner of the garrage. You cant sell it since its ilegal where i live. You cant sel it legaly.

    Basicly we have an SL600 V12 with a basicly brand new engine. Thats a loss of 700€

  13. I have a story of a guy I know that would steal tires out of the dumpster at international autos… Until he got caught by the police and arrested lol

  14. I've been thinking about having some project cars to work on the weekends and flip, but there's something I'm curious about. How do you flip cars while minimizing taxes? Do you have to pay capital gains or sales tax when reselling at a higher price? Can you factor in the parts and hours of labor you put into it for depreciation?

  15. A few yrs back I was a Land Rover mechanic and on the side helped people on a LR forum. A guy contacted me about his Discovery ES and registering it in France – I gave him the info and heard no more. 4 months later he contacts me direct asking if I want to buy his car, as he's just been given a company BMW X5. So I go and see the car; it's got a broken roof window, cracked rear tail light and some scratches down one side. After a few discussions I make him a final offer of 2200€ inc full length quality roof rack. He goes inside to ask his wife, and because their driveway is blocked with the new car she says take it. So I drive it home.
    1. Roof window fixed for free by insurance;
    2. New tail light 30€
    3. Scratched fixed (??) with a paint pen;
    4. Roof rack sold for 500€
    5. Car sold 12 months later for 7500€

    So I had a very nice, useful vehicle for 12 months, and 5,800€ in my pocket.

    Happy days !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. i worked in a small private shop, customer brought in his 1995 Dodge Ram 3500 V10 5 speed manual 4×4. He had overheated it and smoked a couple pistons. After diagnosing the problem, decided he didnt want to spend the 5 grand or whatever it was to repair it. I bought the low mile truck, worth roughly $3500 or so, for $750. Unfortunately life happened, lost my home and garage to a house fire, and had to clear out some projects from the property. Ended up selling/ trading the truck still with a bad engine, partially disassembled from diag, for $2000.

  17. Crap I'm kicking myself in the ass right now I had an opportunity to buy one of these cars for 5,500 and thought it was too much so I passed on it 😤🙄

  18. Most funny story i witnessed was seeing guy droping a new w205 c220d at my mechanic all in hurry and shocked. Problem was, as he said, exhaust was too much red from down, glowing hot almost burning. He was so scared for his life that he left a car over the mechanic where mechanic did absolutely nothing but little bit clean the exterior from grass, under he put one seal and called the guy back. No errors from OBD, just DPF regeneration. He made the regeneration full then. Mechanic could of charge him big time, but he charged probably half of big time. Easiest money earn as he said.

    Got off the bus, found the owner of a three wheel MB sitting outside a garage. Purchased car for $200 and had it towed to parents house. Took down fence to get car into side yard. Three gallons of Bondo and a bread pan for a floor board I sold it for $600. Different time then. Old timer Germans were among the strongest MB supporters. It was all Caddy's and Lincoln's in those days. Parts guy did stop me from transporting a battery, took a low profile battery, from the dealership to home via the subway. Yes, I was rebuilding this car via subway trips. MBs were cheap then. A friend turned down a 280 sl for $600 because he wanted a stick. Person selling the car was a student who's parents brought her the car for college. She was done and was selling the car for $600. This was a time of foreign cars. 85 of the cars on the road were American and MB and VWs were the Lexus and Toyota of the time.

  20. the most I made on a flip was on a e30 325i with a built trans and engine for the track course and daily driving 9k made 2500 on it after every thing said and done

  21. I have a black R170 SLK myself – so this story was like listening to car porn. In my next life I'll come back as a MB car mechanic / technician. 😀

  22. Over here in the UK i bought a 20k mile citreon saxo vts, one owner, at auction for £800 and sold it for £3500. Its a small hot hatch, very popular around the year 2000, i bought it a couple of years ago when these kinds of modern classics were much easier to buy, now every man and his dog deals in them and you can't buy at auction anymore. Wish i'd milked it more.
